Um actually, arrows are the easiest things to dodge. I can't believe I have to tell people this. I can dodge arrows from full draw and from skeletons. I have proven arrows as an ineffective long range weapon in Minecraft. This is unarguable. Crossbows wouldn't be that much harder to dodge either. The first mod on PC i'm going to use is Balkon's weapon mod that adds muskets. Also, I rarely get overwhelmed on hard even without armor. Minecraft's time setting must be screwed up if there is TNT but no flintlocks. I could build a flintlock in real life, just give me the raw materials. Me and LastUsername are gonna back up this topic forever if we need to.
Doesn't look too complicated if there are materials to make one. This is a well balanced idea that would make the game more appealing to many. "Oh minecraft is supposed to be kid friendly and guns wouldn't allow that" Well we are not asking for blood and decapitation animations. We are asking for a weapon that we should already have in the game. Flintlocks came out WAY before TNT did, as LastUsername nicely put a long time ago. Archery was proven ineffective many years before TNT because you could beat the best archer with a flintlock if you haven't ever picked up a gun before. Please 4J either confirm or deny this so I can tell whether or not I should dump the 360 version.

If you think about it a musket with a slower rate of fire requires better aim.
I don't know why you people think a musket is in any way COD or too violent.
It is a primal weapon with a simple mechanism expensive to fire, easy and costly to miss.
In no way has anybody asked for any repeater, semi automatic or automatic weapons.
Muskets are large bore but that doesn't mean they're worse than many small cuts or being slowly bashed to a pulp by a mace.
A bullet is IMO the most humane way to die on a battlefield, a bullet to the head is quick and painless.

Yeah, more humane than getting cleaved to death or cut into pieces by a sword or axe. An arrow would not kill you, if anything, put you into this last stand that you could shoot their enemy with their musket with probably one last chance and then if they can't heal themselves or get healed by someone else, bleed to death. You would only get one chance with the musket or pistol because you can't reload in time. I'm starting to think that when we write "Flintlock" or "Musket," they probably see it as assault rifle or machine gun. We don't want assault rifles or machine guns or shotguns or anything like that.
How about molotovs and grenades? You might think that those are modern, but grenades were invented in the 1500's and would easily fit in here. Molotovs, a glass bottle crafted with a fire charge or an akward potion with a fire charge brewed into it. You throw it and it explodes and spreads fire for a few blocks. A grenade would be a bucket shape for iron, a gunpowder inside, and a string on top, as that is what they were back in those times, not the thing that you pull out the pin and throw. That recipe would make like ten grenades. They would be equal to a ghast fireball minus the fire as grenades were not meant to destroy things, but the fragmentation would impale the victim. To make this cheaper, some squidwards would have glass bottles and grenades for sale.
Also, the problem is not accuracy. You can be the most accurate person but fail because the person is smart enough to dodge the arrow. No one would have time to dodge the musket ball. Modern compound bow: 300 fps Musket: at least 800 fps. More than twice as fast. Minecraft bow: maybe 20 fps. Easy to dodge.

Grandes should be heavy and more for encamped position clearing than chucking 20 metres at the enemy.
In fact I think they rolled them back in those days, they should have shrapnel damage and instead of TNT splash damage more of a stun effect.
When was the first Molotov thought to be made? I will check on a wiki.
Maybe we could get alcohol as a fun brewing recipe?

Heh Heh, yeah right. Also, the Molotov was not a time thing I don't think. If you have bottles and flammable liquid, you can make a Molotov. It should be like throwing a snowball. Also, they can do minimal explosive damage. Also, for the people that say that muskets are not kid friendly, I have a game with guns that was rated E10 for everyone ten and up, and if you want proof, I will tell you the name of the game for you to look up yourselves. I have played the game myself.
I was playing PC minecraft tonight.
It's alot of fun and I can run it at 120FPS on what I imagine is 1080p
I changed the view distance to far and it seems to be locking itself at 60FPS after 4 hours non stop mine crafting.
Horeses are awesome but it seems alot harder to find generated structures and therefore saddles and armour.
I've only found a witches hut and abandoned mineshaft.
I found one of all 3 horse armours in a nether fortress and I'm looking to breed a maser steed for my diamond armour.
Maybe I'll find a village soon and make a railway between that and my forest hut I like forests and ocelots my house has only been blown up once when they stopped following me.

I am going on vacation next week, (I will still be able to post) but I am expecting my new card to come in next week while I am gone. I have heard that the installation for this card takes ten minutes. Maybe we should switch to messaging each other about this stuff so the staff don't think we are getting off topic.
MayB
Lances for when horses arrive.
Also a little lenience when looking around, horse doesn't follow u perfectly so u can kinda Aim and do strafing runs.

Arrows should get rejected completely by plate armor like iron and diamond like real life. Bullets should get rejected by chainmail without loss of durability, but the guy wearing it should take one heart for the momentum of the bullet.

I like it when somebody comes on and likes alot of our ideas.
Still though most of it sound, and the logic is sound... Is the main reason I have not really said much of anything...:D
