Guns are well balanced too. They provide an immediate advantage in the battle but have low durability and are costly for one shot. One cobble makes four balls. One iron makes four iron balls. Archers would have a quiver for their preferred arrow type and the gunners would have a pouch with their musket balls of choice. The pouch or quiver would hold up to 64 of whatever you have. The crossbow might have something other than a quiver, I am not sure. All I can tell you is that when they add this feature, you will never see me with a quiver and you will never see me with any weapon other than a war hammer, just to kill effectively and cave in other player's armor. Hmph! you are saying that TNT was more recent than guns? If you think that that is a blurry line, record players weren't invented until the forties. Fully automatic guns were in existence by then. Nuclear bombs were existing at that time. Don't complain about it being in the past or you are a complete idiot.
Longbow arrows are meant to pierce all but the heaviest armor. Some people say arrows can pierce steel but the heavy armors go into the category of iron and steel. Those armors would either snap arrows in half or they would bounce off. The armor they would pierce is chainmail and leather. Normal arrows wouldn't pierce chainmail. Muskets blew through steel as if it wasn't even there. That is why they ditched armor in wars in the 17-1800's.
I like the enthusiasm! & i agree with you. but I doubt they'd add war hammers or stuff like that. especially guns, they'll never have an appearance on MC

I don't think people will like a single musket shot blowing through their iron armour as if the last 20 minutes of finding and smelting it was a giant waste of time. What we really need is balance in co ordination to materials required.
And remember Radioactive you spend alot less time underground than alot of players tend to.
I'm more of a hoarding type player.
You should see the locker in my megaton house on fallout 3 I decided to drop all my guns and It was a literal 5 mins of lag while they all got dropped. Then a literal swimming pool of miniguns, lag and loud annoying old engine clunking sounds.

Not instantly, just take the durability that ten diamond sword hits would take away. I am a hoard too. You should see my bags in oblivion. I have everything stored in them. I even clean things off before I put them in the sacks. It is laggy when I open the sack and it lags when I take something out. Even what you said, that is what the governments thought at the time. These things that could blow right through armor is making it a waste of time to mine for it and make armor, that is why it was ditched. Aha! I have an idea. They add quivers, two types, one for bolt one for regular arrows, and they add a gunpowder pouch and a musket ball pouch. You have the quiver or pouch in your hotbar, then you left trigger while holding it and it opens up a menu with a single slot. You put the corresponding ammo type in the pouch or quiver. Musket balls should only stack up to sixteen so you have to hide and reload after firing sixteen. You can have a gunpowder pouch on and a musket pouch on and one quiver type. My quiver would be full of incendiary bolt, and my pouch would be full of stone musket balls. It should take a while to reload the musket like it is in real life. You have to clean it, put a cap on it and put the musket ball inside. If every shot costs valuable moments of time and is a costly shot, (One cap, one of your sixteen balls, and one gunpowder,) it is balanced. Shooting it would recoil you greatly and blow you back a block. Recoil would make PVP more appealing instead if whose sword breaks first or who has more arrows and bull crap like that. You hit someone using a shield or parrying and you recoil for a second. Also, shields would provide protections from arrows and bolt, and protection from it's effect at a cost of it's durability. Armor should reject arrows too at a cost of it's durability. big weapons like claymores and big axes and big hammers, you can not use a shield while wielding one of them, and it should have an animation that your person is using both hands to use it. Explosive bolt should be almost insta-kill. It blows you up. Should only be like a ghast fireball though. If you want to not deal with arrows and bolt, use armor or wield a small weapon. At this time period, a bow was an outdated piece of garbage, just like it is today, the muskets were the best, and crossbows were okay because they didn't require years of training to use properly. They are accurate considering you can put a gun scope on it. Joke feature: Fireworks. You can fire them like you can on PC, or you can use them as crossbow bolt. If you hit someone with one, it will stay on them, blow up, and light them on fire. With today, some people might say that bows would still win a fight, but someone that has never touched a gun before could win against someone who has been shooting arrows for the past ten years. That is any type of gun. I am fourteen but I looked at the weight of some guns and I could wield a PKM into battle, or an M16 assault rifle. Either of those guns would easily kill an archer looking for a fight even if it is the wielder's first time using it. Especially if the wielder was holding a refrigerator of a minigun, (Those actually weigh as much as a refrigerator) and just blow the other guy away.
I really don't think you know what you're talking about... Diamond sword aren't powerless, even iron swords without enchantments are enough for me. These weapons would just make the game more complicated then it needs to be.
Hmm, you would rather have a combat system that is put together by someone who knows nothing about combat. Our combat system is not complicated enough. Basic armors, one weapon that is meant for fighting, and just pounding at the other guy until they die. Also, I will pretty soon switch to the PC section of the forums because I am getting a new graphics card and the xbox version isn't very good because we have to put up with all of microsoft's bullcrap, and half of the ideas on these forums won't be added. Everyone's copy has to be exactly the same, and I find mods fun. I could easily have what I want on Xbox on PC. Limited worlds even though Xbox 360 is more than capable of infinite worlds. I have had it with this crap. I am gonna switch to REAL minecraft and it is gonna be glorious. Our combat system sucks, our lighting system sucks, our world size sucks, the fact that everyone has to have the exact same copy of the game sucks, our multiplayer system sucks, the list of things that suck just goes on. 4J won't get to half these problems anyways. Why bother sticking with the xbox edition. I already look like a complete fanboy.
i like the idea of new weapons. and i think your on to something. but dont you think this would be just a bit OP. maby not guns. but i do like the axes and other close range weapons >.<

I should buy PC minecraft.
But I'm worried It will be an annoyance after how use I am to the xboxs smooth crafting system.
The PC crafting seems strange to me.

I heard that there is a mod for our crafting system. I know they want me using mouse and keyboard but I am going to use a wired xbox controller and xpadder. I have to buy another wired Xbox controller my sister dropped it and broke it
Oh sorry, the staff deleted it because MrKennyMcKormmic was flaming and just being disrespectful. If he returns here, there is gonna be a serious problem. I can't believe they gave me an infraction for it. Like, are you bull crapping me or something? Me getting in trouble because this kid was flaming? What a joke. He better not have gotten off scott free with this or there will be a problem. On the topic side, we can finally be on topic again if he stays away. A while ago you said that you can one hit insta kill players with bows. Our bows resemble re curve bows which cannot kill with one shot. I feel that has to be nerved. Muskets should be pretty close to insta kill, maybe leaving you with two or three hearts if shot. Iron and diamond should not hold it back very much, but I saw a video where someone shot chainmail with a bullet and it held it back. Chainmail is surprisingly bulletproof. But chainmail doesn't hold back arrows. The only way to hold back both would be a combo of body armor and plate armor.
I think you can one hit with enchanted bows.
But it takes two max pull back shots to kill with unenchanted.
Chain mail may surprise you to be bulletproof but it makes alot of sense.
When put on a soft target it doesn't keep it's shape meaning it can be slown down by being a hard surface but also absorb the shock and decelerate the ball in jus a few inches which can make a lot of difference and then it expands the surface area.
It works much the same as Kevlar which is a very tough fabric which is even used in armouring vehicles against small arms fire.
It works just like a trampoline for bullets, absorbing the energy.
I think that projectile protection should provide good resistance to muskets however, so people with a couple muskets can't go around breaking people's servers.

When I saw the bullet get stuck in chainmail, I was mind blown. I was also mind blown when I saw the arrow go right through it. Another thing that mind blew me at first, was the fact that plate armor rejected arrows like shooting a cement wall, and bullets went right through it. I wonder, would a combination of plate armor and body armor make you like invincible? I mean not invincible, but you know what I mean. Maybe a layer of plate armor protected by a layer of chainmail, so bullets would get stopped by the chainmail, and the arrows that go through it get rejected by the plate armor. No projectile is gonna go through both layers, if anything, get rejected by one of the two layers.
It is iron that bullets go right through. Not steel. I just saw a video on youtube. With the steel, the bullets fragment it and ricochet off it. by fragment, I mean, they blow off some of the metal from the impact location, but not go through. On the other side, there is a dimple where it got hit. But still, that is maybe a centimeter thick. The stuff that rejects arrows is 2mm steel. Bullets can go right through 2mm steel. Maybe if they added steel, we could get a type of armor that the piece covering the chest is steel, the part covering the shoulders and sides are chainmail and the back piece is steel. That should be the type of armor that can reject both and be kinda lightweight. Also, we should talk about other weapon types. Sledgehammers, they break blocks like stone fast and deal bonus damage. Machetes: they mine things like leaves and vines and plants in general faster and deal bonus damage.

I think one or two of these would be fine, like a battle axe and a musket. I just don't want a ton of weapons in the game because it'll be more like an RPG game and not a survival game.
If minecraft is in the past why is there TNT? When TNT wasn't invented untill atleast 400 years after guns.
Yes flint & steel knowledge is already in the game.
As is explosion pushing things away.
He should be able to make that connection.
