Before I give the idea, allow me to bring you back to the wondrous days of Far Cry 2 and Far Cry 3. In those games (and I think the 1st also), you were allowed to download any map that had been published by a member of the Far Cry gaming community. You could see another player's awesome creations and wander around aimlessly, exploring whatever you could.
Now let's go to Minecraft.
Why don't we add something similar to that into the game? An option labeled "Community Creations." This would allow players to be able to choose from a list of which map they wish to download. It could range from a simple map of another's world, or it could be a world of mass creation, involving cities and underwater houses or something of that matter.
I'm very sure that there are some people out there on the Xbox version who wish to share their maps with others, but find it somewhat impossible. With this idea, the map could be shared to many others, even for when surviving multiplayer.
For example, I have a map that puts you into a post-apocalyptic town, forcing you to survive. I want to share this map with many people of the community, but there's no way to do so. Adding this list, I could simply publish the map to the community. People could play the map as it stands and I could edit it as I go.
I'm sure there's "that one person" who will label this as "an idea that popped off the top of my head." No. It didn't. I have gotten this idea from another thing, and this idea has been in my head for a while now. This would be a really cool feature to add into the game, as it would allow people to play another player's experience, either alone or with friends.
I fully support this idea, but it has been suggested numerous times before. Please use the search bar before posting on these forums. Thank you. On topic though, a feature like this would be awesome. There is no reason not to have this.feature, but it is too much to ask for from micro$oft.
On topic: I would enjoy seeing others' map. You wouldn't see mine up there because ain't no-one claimin' mah maps as their own.
But as said before, please search before posting, your Highness.

Yeah to my shame I've suggested this in two separate threads, ha.
Anyways I'm totally behind it. I think it's astonishing that they haven't done it yet.
As far as how to implement it, I favor the file share system that Halo has/had for forge mode/custom games. This allows the map to be stamped with an author as well as stamping anyone as a modifier who contributes to it post-upload. It also allows for enhanced search terms and categories. I would love for them to use this sort of system.
I personally hate the way it is done unofficially now, which I'm actually not sure is legal, but whatever.
Now let's go to Minecraft.

Have a sort of... thing where you could download things. But for the sake of it.. make it always free.
But like radioactive said.. Micros**t won't do anything without it's cut.
