So I have noticed that many people want more variation in the game. I personally agree with this. Currently, every mob in the game looks exactly the same as another member of that mob. On the PC version, there is this thing called the wither skeleton. For those of you that don't know what that is, it is a variant of the skeleton that spawns in the nether along with regular skeletons. It is a variant of the already existing skeleton because they share the spawn egg and there is some chance of spawning a wither skeleton if in the nether. I was thinking they could do something similar with the blaze. This variant would be twice the size of the normal blaze. It would have a lot more health and shoot more fireballs at once. I think it would be interesting if you are running through the corridors of a nether fortress and suddenly you turn the corner and there is a humongous blaze waiting for you there. What do you guys think? Should we have more variation in our mobs, or should they all look exactly the same? By the way, the chance of spawning a huge blaze should be like one in thirty or something like that.
Bigger, floating, shoots more often and more powerful fireballs than a Blaze.... sounds like a Ghast. The only real difference is that they spawn fairly commonly and they have half the health of a Blaze.
Not more powerful shots. You know how the blaze only shoots three fireballs at a time? This one would shoot like six at a time. It would also take the same time to recharge.
So... It would be a rare spawn of the Blaze MOB type, and could appear from a Blaze spawner within the Nether Fortress, but otherwise doesn't naturally spawn in the Nether...

I was thinking more like the spider jockey. which no matter where you spawn a spider, there is some chance of it spawning as a spider jockey.
More variation so that not all blazes are exactly the same.
Using that logic should also add roosters, bulls, "maskless" zombie pigmen, generic villagers, baby zombies and pigmen, sword-using skeletons, and then some.
More variety isn't really necessary, especially without a unique purpose.
Or maybe an Ender Blaze? Like a purple Blaze which shoots purple fireballs and such? And are in The End? They also work like Endermen? This also means they could drop a new item instead of glow dust. (Maybe purple glow dust which can be used to make purple glow blocks? Also can be used in potions though does same thing as normal glow dust?).
Just saying this stuff cause the whole "Huge" idea isn't that original really...Actually, I now have a new idea.
I agree with the OP. Some more variation would be nice. I also see the use in giving them a real purpose other than just existing and being different. what that is could be determined, but I think it is a neat idea. Like with wolves, it could be cool if they had different "breeds" . I guess it could be similar to how there are different color sheep, although those do serve a purpose. Maybe they could add a breeding system that would allow you to create wolves that travel into the Nether with you or ones that would attack Creepers.
Well if I'm not mistaken they can light the ground on fire forever until you pat it out (unless I'm mistaken with a ghast). So if that's the case.. I'd hate to have six fireballs come out and light six squares worth of fire until you put it out.
Usually blaze fights are in a fortress, so that should not be a problem as nether fortresses aren't made of netherrack. They are made of nether brick which extinguishes like any other block.
So you are saying that all mobs should look exactly the same.
I'm saying that having a large Blaze that does nothing more than take up more shots on your bow or hits on your sword with no different reward than a standard Blaze is not needed.
Wither Skeletons serve a purpose other than being a variation of a mob; the same applies to zombie villagers.
Yours however...shoot more fire and not much else.
I don't really see too much of a point other than having an unnecessarily large fireman.
I agree with this entirely. You just want a bigger and more overpowered mob. And no, it has NO variation at all. No creativity either, because you just want a stronger version of the Blaze that has nothing unique.
Hmm. Maybe if you get close to it, it breathes fire all over you, and it looks like a bunch of torch animations. That is within four blocks though. Something the small version cannot do. How about it drop fire charges, making them useful if your portal got destroyed.
So now do I have support from you? Giant frigging blaze that drops something that you might need.
Yes. Support.
Questions:
Do they drop XP as well? If so, how much?
Do they rarely spawn or commonly spawn?
What light level do they spawn in?
--------------
I think that the Huge Blazes should also drop XP, and rarely spawn, about as rare as Enderman. I'm not sure what the light level should be..... probably light level 7 or less. This is your suggestion, so you can agree and disagree.
