I've noticed that when I play minecraft I have the urge to play on survival, build a home taking at least half a day, and when it's perfect i go about doing most everything else such and find the end and collect blaze shards. Well after having enough of blaze shard collecting, I found that you can now craft a new chest, one that can have the same materials within it from different places. I pondered and thought that was terrible because for that to be effective, to make effective use to connect 2 nether portals together for efficient traveling, you would need to at least have a livable area CLEAR across the map. You can use the nether to travel there once it's safe, however on the main world it doesn't take very long at all to travel there anyways. I want to see outrageous amounts of land that i cannot hope to build upon on a later date. This current minecraft was given a height increase, which is good, but to my knowledge no mountains go up there, there's no feeling of outrageous exploration.
Suggestion:
There are other attempts to suggest map expansion but i want to put emphasis on it, because those suggestions are disregarded and not taken seriously. I really don't want to play this game as long as when I know after the first hour of being in a new overworld everything becomes too well known. You cannot have a house at the map's height made out of a naturally occurring mountain which this last expansion was based on, therefore it didn't do me a bit of justice. I might assume the height increase was for structure construction, but i want exploration, i want to be able to build 2 nether portals, and have it be of good planned use instead of the overworld's equivalent to 2 minutes of running, it's just not worth it. My heart would feel so much better if the map was quadrupled, I have the patience as long as it can be made to work.
The content is there, the danger is there, the ideas are there, but i feel now the producers focus on skins when the map size is where all this content fits together.
The map within itsself, being a piece of paper I feel should turn into pages, when you move from 1 1/4 of the map to another it turns to page to another 1 1/4 of the map, this is a technical suggestion in my overall suggestion.
This has already been suggested by many other users, and we want to keep the Suggestions section open to completely new ideas. Expanded maps have already been implemented into other versions of Minecraft.
While map expansion is a highly-desired feature, the devs have not been able to implement it due to hardware restraints. Expanded maps for Xbox 360 may be possible at some point, but the devs aren't going to forsake content to focus on one aspect of the game.
