I thought of making a cool underwater place. Such as.. building Rapture from Bioshock.
But I thought that things like Seaweed would be cool to have.
As well as having actual fish in the water instead of throwing your rod into the water and magically a fish comes out when you reel it in. It'd be better than having just squid in the waters. Perhaps even Oysters as another food source as well.
That sounds really cool, the seaweed could be like vines except grow upwards when placed at the bottom of a lake.
I've also thought about having different sizes of fidh, small, med, large, getting rarer as the size increases and small replenishing 2 hearts, medium replenish 3.5 and large replenishing 5 for example, idk just an idea

...but looks like ConvictedMelon19 beat me too it way back from July last year. LOL
Maybe actually have some ambient fish MOBs to represent the fish you can catch from PC 1.7... assuming we ever get them, of course. And maybe some more Sea side MOBs, (I believe sharks were suggested in another thread?)

Yeah I remember saying that in that one thread where that person made that ridiculous mob suggestion where it was like 150 blocks wide or something like that.
As for the vine thing, yeah it appears so yes that he beat you to it

I think the MOB was Cthulhu, and the spawning area had to be an open sea region that was 100 x 100 blocks and 100 blocks deep, in a game environment where sea level is at layer 62.
Yes I would definitely support this idea, especially the oysters... they could be very rare and maybe contain a pearl for something special to craft? Idk, but I really like the idea of adding visible passive/hostile mobs to the oceans and lakes.
Great Idea sir

i to like that idea and what about other sea mobs like seahorses or lobsters and crabs, idk if that is a good idea or not

I say why not kinda. Because I've thought of running away from the surface of the world and living in a life... UNDER DA SEA, UNDER DA SEA.... jk anyway.
Yeah I just would love some more stuff with the oceans and lakes. It seems they finally added lily pads way back, so why not stuff with large bodies of water?

Ooh... underwater palace. Sounds interesting. Maybe their can be a rare chance of finding a city underwater, like Atlantis.

Perhaps. And find a rare trident... that shoots lightning......................................................................................... Jk. Lol.
But the idea of a underwater city/dungeon/stronghold sounds good

Ok, I've been giving this some more thought... especially to undersea flora/plants.
Basically, the way a current plant exists int eh game is as a separate block (or chain of blocks) that has an 'air' space around it, which allows for movement through these blocks.
If you had something directly similar to this under the water, it would create air pockets (sort of like sinking to the bottom of the ocean and slapping down a door to create an air pocket to breathe from, or how water doesn't fill in around fence posts and slabs correctly.
So either the logic should change to allow for transparent blocks to have water/air in them depending on what environment they are in, or these water plants will need to be filled with a 'water' space around them (and not be place-able above the water surface level... maybe require there to be a water source block (immediately) above it? or maybe, they can only replace a water source block, and when removed, they leave behind a water source block, and otherwise have the same properties as a water source block for water flow and for auto re-populating other water source blocks.
The seaweed, could look similar to vines, but grow upward instead of downward (like sugar cane).
If you were to destroy seaweed (if you could), what could you do with it other than place it back underwater? Or is it only for decoration purposes?
For the purposes of this discussion, they would be purely decorative. IF they do get implemented, other suggestions could be made to have some crafting use for them, but the more that is asked for initially, the less likely that the overall concept will be heard, which was basically to increase the underwater ambiance by adding in ambient MOBs (fish, oysters) and other underwater plants (sea weed, sea moss, sea grass, etc.), maybe some other hostile MOB sea creatures (such as sharks, lobsters and crabs)
Also, I have another suggestion, maybe their can be abandoned submarines in the water, with chests and other stuff inside of them.
Overall, I think the ideas coming out of this topic are great
The Genre of the game is loosely generally medieval fantasy (with mine carts and TNT), IMO, I'd prefer sunken ships to abandoned submarines, just from an ambiance perspective.

That can be easily fixed by coding the plant wth water around instead of air, which would mean you can only place it under water. imagine a sourceblock with the plant inside. Easy to code, just overlapping textures and maybe minor bug fix.

That could work too.
How does this sound with more recent people? This was from a while ago. But my more discussive pals on here haven't discussed with me yet

The chance of a village spawning in an ocean Biome.... interesting.... I like it.
