Hey everyone, Been awhile since I made a thread in the xbox section. Seems like the only threads we get anymore are asking for help so I don't bother coming back to the forums to much. Anyways on topic. I Have been playing Hard Mode on MC since it came out and Its always been fun. I Also Heard MC PC has a Hardcore mode? Which I'm not sure how the rules go or whatever. I Haven't seen it added on the 360 so Instead of doing hardcore mode, Maybe make Hard abit harder?
Far As Reasons
I Can Back up my reason for the listed suggestions. If you Disagree with one of my reasons, feel free to point out why and how it wouldn't be a good feature. Please also list suggestions to help support the thread. Even if you think all my suggestions are bad, It would help if you could tell me why. My Suggestions don't have to be good but just making Hard Mode Harder In general is what I am aiming at.
Some listed Suggestions
• When starting a New world on Hard, You should spawn with Half hearts
• When Eating food to regain food bars, The Item restores half of what it would restore playing on Normal
• When taking Damage not only able to lose hearts, But also Food bars
• All Mobs Gain a "Slight" Speed Boost
• Mob attack Speed increased
• When Dying all items In inventory disappear
• When Underwater Bubble decrease speeds up
• Animal speed increased "Again" xD
• Wheat Disappears If It isn't farmed within 30mins
• Nether Portal has 10min Cool Down before Entering and Re-entering
• Wolfs Take 5 bones or more to tame
• Poison Can kill you
• Mobs have farther Intel notice
• Creeper blast damage stays the same but farther blast rate
• Skeletons have a chance to shoot flame arrow
• Silver fish have a chance to come 2-3 out of silverfish stone
Bump/Updated list
• If Attacked by endermen other endermen around become hostile (Edit) Nvm I forgot about the end world...That would be insane...you wouldn't survival
• Fire Spread Speed Increased
• Lava Spread Speed Increased
• Mid-night last longer (This can be helpful for getting EXP for people who don't use grinders)
• Cave Spiders be a normal mob spawn (Can this be done? I'm not really sure i haven't toyed around with the spawn eggs yet
• Cows don't always drop something like they do in normal
• EXP Obtain is smaller
• Magma Cubes hit harde damage (Not making those Ghast strong...Forget that)
Now guys, These are just some ideas I came up with off the top of my head. I Know you guys can do better. I Really think Minecraft could be alot harder with a couple of perks. Please list some suggestions if you think mines have no chance at all. Anything as long as it doesn't change the game to much
This Thread comes with a side of [ Bad Spelling / Grammar ] (Still editing) xD
Pretty good list...
The one I didn't like was inventory disappearing. As I am a survival builder not pure survivalist. If I were to play on hard mode I would expect having a chance to get my items back. Even if it is a shorter time.
didn't understand a couple of them though:
1."When starting a New world on Hard, You should spawn with Half hearts"
Do you mean starting with half a heart or 50% health(5 hearts of 10)?
Either way it would still make sense, albeit the former is a bit extreme.
2."Creeper blast damage stays the same but farther blast rate"
I don't understand what you mean by "farther blast rate"
I seriously couldn't come up with much to get hard mode hard... except a couple small ones.
1.Spawn rate increased... Whether it is in a prior post I made about lighting, or does flat out increase.
2.Something from the PC, when you hit a zombie it has a chance to spawn another near it, like calling for help in a way. Or in this case would mean attracting attention.
3. Lava flows faster when source is placed, as well sticks around longer after source block is picked up.
All in all so far it is a great list of things to make it harder. There is hard and Overdrive, and I don't want hard to be in overdrive. That should be left for a harder difficulty, Like Insane mode or something where everything is almost improbably to do anything but survive.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
2."Creeper blast damage stays the same but farther blast rate"
I don't understand what you mean by "farther blast rate"
The Explode rate. So pretty much, Normal creepers would be Super Creepers.
Anyways I agree with your suggestions. I'll Edit them into the thread. Although this thread doesn't seem to be getting much feedback.
This is a pretty good list but when you eat food and it regenerates half as much, you'll be paranoid about food whenever you play. But if they can fix the Enderdragon's behavior and make it harder that would be great because me and my friends killed the Enderdragon in hard mode in less than 5 minutes. But great list by the way.

instead of starting with half hearts you should start the game with a single food point, so you can't sprint from the start.
I was also going to suggest low food start instead of half hearts as well... with half hearts, you start healing immediately, but with low food, you risk starvation and consequently loosing hearts fast. Also, when the game currently generates, it starts you in morning with no Hostile MOB's to contend with, what if the game started near to when the sun was setting so you have less preparation time for the long night ahead?
To make it harder, dungeons can spawn on the surface and even hidden inside large houses. Also, torches can burn out, making it easier for mobs to spawn.

I would not like a dungeon spawning IN my house. On the surface would be too easy to find. Plus, when the mobs spawn from the spawner in the day time.... well, it would be useless. But it would be good for me
Torches burning out would be the most annoying thing

I play MINECRAFT. And TERRARIA. MESSAGE me if you want to play Terraria.
Customizable difficulty is a big game changer. I can honestly say some of my favorite games all time would not have been without it.
3 difficulty levels is really bare bones. 5-9 would be more ideal, the greatest game ever created, Civilization 4, has 9 difficulty settings with over a dozen customizable options.
Which brings me to more customizable options in regard to difficulty. I would like to see checkboxes for all mobs, on or off. Ideally I would play on the hardest difficulty level with creepers turned off. I like to build, I don't want my creations to blow up, but I also want a challenge. The current iteration robs me of that, something my favorite game ever excelled at; playing how I want to play.
I don't see them doing this it's kind a the reason they're putting out hardcore mode next Update (That's what I heard)
If you want hard to get harder just Play hardcore then you'll see that you cant trust people lol
The reason I say they probably wont do it is because they have to recode everything and can cause major Glitches or Bugs... It's just to much for one update they would rather put out Hardcore mode then deal with our over complicated Suggestions/Ideas.
I was thinking that what they could to with the enderdragon behavior is that they could make it so that it is only vulnerable to sword attacks, and arrows are completely useless. How this would make it better would be that the only time you can attack it is by hitting it while it is squirting acid all over you, because that is basically the only time that it is close enough to attack.
• When starting a New world on Hard, You should spawn with Half hearts
But with a full food bar you will just heal it all in no time. Starting with 3/4 or 1/2 food bar would be better because it will force you to find food immediately or starve.
• When Eating food to regain food bars, The Item restores half of what it would restore playing on Normal
• When taking Damage not only able to lose hearts, But also Food bars
No thanks.
• All Mobs Gain a "Slight" Speed Boost
• Mob attack Speed increased
• Mobs have farther Intel notice
• Skeletons have a chance to shoot flame arrow
Eventually (possibly in TU14) mobs will spawn with enchanted gear, meaning skellies can get flame bows. I also wish 4j will pull forward the 1.6 mob AI update, where skellies will shoot faster the closer the player is to them, and zombies have a chance of immediately spawning a new zombie when they are killed. Increasing their awareness range (from 16 blocks to 24 or even 30) would be nice.
• When Dying all items In inventory disappear
• When Underwater Bubble decrease speeds up
I don't know. I'm on the fence when it comes to these.
• Animal speed increased "Again" xD
• Wheat Disappears If It isn't farmed within 30mins
• Nether Portal has 10min Cool Down before Entering and Re-entering
• Wolfs Take 5 bones or more to tame
No thanks. Sounds like more of an annoyance than adding a challenge.
• Poison Can kill you
Yes!! Yes, this is good. Heheh heh! (starts brewing some poison splash potions)
• Creeper blast damage stays the same but farther blast rate
Maybe have a 0.2% chance that any creeper will spawn as a charged creeper (normally, the creeper needs to get hit by lightning to become "charged").
• Silver fish have a chance to come 2-3 out of silverfish stone
Yeah, why not.
• Fire Spread Speed Increased
• Lava spread Speed Increased
Okay, sure.
• Mid-night last longer (This can be helpful for getting EXP for people who don't use grinders)
This requires altering the entire day/night cycle. At Minecon 2013 Dinnerbone mentioned adding seasons to the game. He didn't elaborate but it might mean day last longer in the "summer" and night lasts longer in the "winter"... whether we'll see anything like that come to 360 is anyone's guess.
• Cave Spiders be a normal mob spawn
Ooo, that's devious. But I'm not against it. Maybe only at certain levels, like y=30 or lower?
Oh, and to answer your question:
Hardcore mode on the PC is just like Hard mode, but if you die you don't respawn and you can't join that world anymore. IOW, death is permanent.
Hey guys! I'm actually building a map that will be played on hard survival and it will make hard mode harder.
I'm about 30% done now but I'm bedrocking the entire overworld for a center of the earth feel as well as terra forming!
I like some of your suggestions and I didn't like some of them.
I think that what you are looking for is a more washed ashore feel to the extreme.
If you want we can start a hard survival and after you jump 20x ill punch you a few times and voila, there you are with half hearts and food!
Lol!
But seriously I think the biggest change would be to enable one life. You die you start over.
Also if you take off generate structures and chest it makes it harder... Maybe add the one life to that list in the future.
Lower animal and raise monster spawn rates would make it exponentially harder. Have mobs spawn with armor (% chance)
Which brings me to more customizable options in regard to difficulty. I would like to see checkboxes for all mobs, on or off. u don't need an option 2 turn mobs on/off. u can just go on peaceful if u want no mobs, or easy or higher if u want mobs.

Looks like some do... I wanted to bring this thread alive. Because I agreed with it. I think the ideas are generally pretty good. So.. Yeah.
I was thinking... what if instead of hitting harder, there was a (good) chance that a Magma Cube could set you on fire?

As someone who plays almost exclusively in Hard mode, I would welcome a bit of a change. I find myself going around armorless more often than not.
But with a full food bar you will just heal it all in no time. Starting with 3/4 or 1/2 food bar would be better because it will force you to find food immediately or starve.

But there's already enough things that can light us on fire... between ghasts, lava, blazes, etc
