Overall Description I think Minecraft Xbox should add new ores. What inspired me is I found this image on the web. It showed some ores in Minecraft that the Xbox doesn't have. And I was thinking that we should add these to the game:
In-game Uses & Why they should be in the game New ores lead to many things, such as tools, weapons, armor, and blocks. It would also give us more ores to look for while caving, rather then searching for diamonds all the time; it would give us something else to look forward to.

Junokaii (although I'd recommend not adding me because I'm on literally like... once every month or two)

I like the idea. But.. I'm not entirely sure... If it should be added at least to Xbox 360/PS3. I say that because... the worlds are already very small.
And minerals to come by.. really isn't in short supply.
If all of these.. were added tomorrow. Every new world would basically become mineral paradise and there'd be no.. incentive to keep looking. You'd find everything you need to find immediately.. and have no use to do so afterwards.
If they made things more expensive to make, things less durable, etc... if that was the case assuming every single one of those were added.. You'd need more of a reason to keep mining.
Unless the reason was to have blocks of those perspective minerals.
This topic has been suggested plenty of times (especially since those Mindcrack guys started airing Feed the Beast episodes), but I say what I said back then.
I fully support adding in new "gem" ores that could generate in specific biomes. For example, emerald only spawns in extreme hills; there can be ruby in deserts, sapphire in ocean/river, topaz in plains, etc. The sole purpose of these ores is to craft new blocks used to add "flavor" to builds.
I do not support adding in new "metal" ores as I do not think they are needed. Not for tools. Not for armor. Not for anything. The tool/armor tiers are perfect the way they are.

I quoted you here at the end because I believe the same as you except for this final part.
Do you believe that tool/armor tiers are perfect the way they are? Personally I find a too big of a difference between leather and iron and the same happens with iron and diamond. I believe that there should be somthing like copper to have between leather and iron and I dont know what between iron and diamond (steel maybe?). The tools are okay the way they are thanks to stone weapons.
And I'll quote my topic again to show what's wrong with this suggestion....
Details.
It should go without saying that details are vital to a suggestion, and yet some people still refuse or forget to put any into their topic. Without a proper amount of detail, the readers may not get the same feel for your suggestion as you did, and some may even take the idea out of context. Shall we have another example?
Bad_Poster: We need more ores. 6 is too few. The next update should add more ores.
It's clear that the poster wants a larger variety of ores in the game, but beyond that, we have no idea what any of them would be, or how they would be used.
Seriously, you really don't give any actual reasoning as to why would should have anything other than your own implied opinion that the number of ores we having is boring and redundant.
Details...details...
-What height range do they spawn?
-Item drop or block drop?
-Quantity dropped?
-Vein sizes?
-Uses?
-Durability / damage?

I once thought there should be a bone armor, which would be a craft-able equivalent to chain armor (as well as another use for bones), but with the ease in which iron can be obtained and with the addition of Fortune enchantments the suggestion seemed obsolete. I argued fervently with people who tried telling me as much, but I thought it was such a good idea I was blinded to the obvious.
Suppose they added copper... what advantage does it have over iron if those two ores can be found in equal amounts. Likewise, steel is just a more refined alloy of iron. There is no steel ore. How do you propose to make the steel? Re-smelting iron ingots? That makes Iron armor immediately obsolete.
When I said the tiers are perfect the way they are, what I should have said was adding additional tiers would compromise the balance between the existing tiers.

I gave details to why we should have them. Reread my suggestion again and perhaps you will notice them.

Your post didn't have any details. You just said it can be used to make weapons or armor. Phoenix was asking why we should have new weapon, etc. I don't claim to speak for Phoenix, but my post right above yours explains why we shouldn't have new tools, armor, etc.
More ores would lead to many things. It would add new blocks (silver blocks, ruby blocks, etc.). These blocks can be used for building (of course). New ores would also lead to new and better tools, such as ruby tools, copper tools, etc. Tools are used for.... well killing things, mining and digging. What else is their to say on tools? New ores can also give us new armor (topaz armor, sapphire armor, etc.) These new types of armor can defend us more from mob attacks, lava, falling, etc.

I agree with adding a few colorful ores for the purpose of building blocks. Any option to spice-up my builds is welcome.
But you still haven't given any details about why these tools and armor are needed. What purpose / role would they serve?
I'm not trying to berate you; I only want you to justify the need for these new ores.
I read it twice before I even posted.
You want more ore, armours, tools, and blocks, I get it.
How about details about them?
I agree with you that we need more details about the ores.
Just saying that we will have more varied options for making tools and armor isnt a "detail".
Off topic: You are just 4 posts away for the 4000th post Phoenix! Hooray!
I think we should go full out with ores. Not only have ores but alloys as well. Like combining copper and tin to make bronze, which is better than either of the things that were used to make it.

No support.
Why don't you ever come up with any threads? I see you trash everyone else's and it's lack of detail... etc... But I never see you create one?

We already/will have hardened clay for the colorful blocks and we already have wool. I don't see a need for the tools either since we already have wood, iron, gold, and diamond, with the addition to enchanting them to last longer and efficiency so why add more? I imagine that if this were to be added based on your suggestion it would either be dead content or leave already existing content useless. I can only imagine your blocks with unique patterns be of any use.

I really have no hope in 4J ever seeing, nor considering implementing anything for the 360, so I'm really not going to waste my time making any suggestions that people will deliberately attempt to shoot down even if they support it on the inside.
I'm a person who personally likes the variety in the game. So I support more ores, gemstones, metals, etc. As it will give me more of a reason to go hunting and mining for them.
I actually wouldn't mind if the existing ore commonality was reduced to accommodate for the new ores somewhat if people really thought it was too game imbalance, I just want there to be more than just iron, gold, diamond, emerald, quartz and redstone (not going to count coal as one could manufacture their own charcoal easily enough).
The tools and weapons don't have to be more effective than the current tools/weapons in the game, examples might include that bronze is as effective as iron, but as durable as leather/stone, gemstones could have a different use other than tools and armor, however, I like the variety of colors they afford.
Yes, colored clay blocks will open up a venue of flat colors, but colored gem and metallic blocks open up brighter color options that would appear more translucent or shimmery/metallic/reflective as far as building blocks go.
Even if there is no other use than as making building blocks, the addition of other potential building material now will open the doors to possibly other recipes than might be suggested down the road for other suggestions.

So it would be like:
copper ore + tin ore = bronze ore
copper ingot + tin ingot = bronze ingot
copper block + tin block = bronze block
Like that?

So it would be like:
copper ore + tin ore = bronze ore
...
There probably shouldn't be a 'Bronze Ore' option.
