I think because of all the hassle of placing signs to chat and the person might walk away before you can type whats on the sign that there should be a chat button like press RT and LT at the same time to bring up a chat menu.

As in a button that invites them to a private chat? Or a server chat box? Because I think both of those should be implemented through the Players/Invite menu (Select button).
If im not mistaken here, but doesnt Xbox have a text chat room that you can use in-game like ps3? I dont really play xbox but these forums are more active than ps3 so....yea..
At least on ps3 you can make a text chat room and use that, which is sperate from the game.

If you don't have xbox live you can still send messages over Xbox so this will probably neve need to be implemented.
It you do have live then party it up even if you don't have a mic.
These are your options or you can continue to try to write on signs, your choice.
Ummmmm... what about through a party and use your mic? But, you would need XboxLIVE. I suggest getting it. It comes with lots of features in games you already had. There is also another chat but it is private between 2 people.
This is why I suggested a server chatbox from the players/invite menu. I'd probably use it a lot more for minigames where people aren't in my party and since I have a chatpad it'd be super convenient and much faster than sending messages using the guide button and then going to friends, creating a message, add all the recipients, and finally sending a message.
Instead I could hit the select button and then some other shortcut button that'd take me to a screen where I'd type a message that'd be sent and displayed to everyone like death messages (Basically just like PC Server Chat).
For most friendly town maps, I do just use XBL party instead. It's just what I thought sounded good for "the ability to chat" without a party. Hope that cleared up by suggestion/reply.

Nope Xbox does not. And if it's separate can you still play and be on the chat simultaneously?
