i wish that they would beable to put crossbows into the game. they would allow the arrows to fly farther and draw back would be faster. you could make multiple bolts and mix potions with them to give them added effects. you could even mix tnt with them and make 8 explosive tipped bolts if you like. they could make arrows universal and be used in the crossbow as well. just saying ideas to spice up minecraft for a bit
You need to think about how this is balanced with the bow... if you make the crossbow as you have described, then what are the advantages of using a bow instead of a crossbow?
IMO, drawing a crossbow should be much slower than the bow, not faster, to compensate for the higher damage and the longer range. But since one of the advantages of the crossbow is to be able to fire it immediately once it is loaded... I would suggest that the Crossbow autoloads when selected and auto unloads when deselected. In this way, you can move around at a normal (or sprint) pace while holding a loaded crossbow, but you are slowed immediately after you fire while you take up to 3x the time to load the crossbow as you would a normal bow (unless you deselect it/change the selected item).
Mixing bolts/arrows and potions (effects) is another idea all together, and I'm assuming that this would be usable in bows as well as crossbows?
The downside to this is that the normal arrows would have to have a separate item ID as the arrows with special effects, which would mean that they wouldn't stack with each other nor with other special arrows that had different effects. Also, you will have to consider how the enchantment on the Bow/Crossbow would stack with the effect on the Arrow/Bolt in order to remain game balanced.

you could even mix tnt with them and make 8 explosive tipped bolts if you like. Making TNT useless and griefing even easier.
they could make arrows universal and be used in the crossbow as well. just saying ideas to spice up minecraft for a bit Your "spicing" if making multiple items completely useless and adding an overpowered item.

It'll help you.
I see what you did there phoenix, but seedlings is at least a branch off of Minecraft instead of a new genre.
If they added crossbows, I'd want them similar to what GregNelson said, little bit more damage and range than bows, but have a longer reload time. Otherwise it's like Phoenix said, bows are obsolete.

IF crossbows were to be implemented, I can see the crossbow fired bolt doing 1.5x to 2.0x the damage of a bow fired arrow... but at the same time, I would want to be able to put down 3-4 arrows from a bow in the span of time that it would take to re-load the crossbow. Crossbows should not be used in a sustained archer duel, they should be planned for fire once and switch to melee (sword), or fire from a fortified position, Bows should do more damage over time due to a much higher rate of fire.
I don't think potions/enchantments/TNT/gunpowder effects should apply to arrows/bolts, I further don't see a need in the game to segregate arrows from bolts, just use them interchangeably.
i think we should have crossbows because its in seedlings
...I can't tell if this is a sarcastic response or a serious response....
As BloodyPhoenix pointed out, it is weak reasoning... but that might have been the point if it was intended to be a sarcastic response.
Assuming it was serious... you could argue that there should be dynamic lighting and shading and realistic reflective water surfaces because they are in Seedlings as well.
I agree with Phoenix. You can't just say that it is good because it is in another source (such as seedlings). If that were the case, many not needed things would be added.

I think if they added it... it should be much harder to make... like say it needs an iron ingot or two to make, along with sticks, string, and whatever added ingredients to make it might be needed.
As well, if I'm not mistaken, bolts are also different grade than just an arrow. So perhaps make them harder to make as opposed to just making like a typical arrow/bolt

I agree that the crossbow should be 'more expensive' (harder material wise) to make, but I don't think there is a need to segregate bolts and arrows... I think just keeping it simple would be best in this case... no need to go overboard on the technical accuracy.
If bolts and arrows are separate item ID's then they would not be stack-able with each other...or interchangeable with each other. This just make more inventory items that requires their own separate place, and further clutters things up.

No. There is no real advantage to a crossbow as opposed to the bow that's already in the game.
If you want to discuss special arrows (another topic nearly bled dry) we can revisit that discussion... but no crossbows.

"i think we shud have gunz cuz they in CoD."
Very, very weak reasoning.

I agree, because if you were to make the crossbow faster speed and faster aiming, or else that would make regular bows useless.
