so in PC, as far as I understand, there's a generation option for superflat that determines its biome(plains, taiga, desert). I was thinking what if we had something like that? and i'm not sure how, or if, it would work but what if we had something like that for actual worlds? i know they generate based on algorithms and unicorn dust but would it be possible to cause it to generate a specific biome completely or at least be dominant in that biome? like how currently in TU 12/13, seed: 10 generates a 90-95% taiga biome. again, not sure if or how well it would work or if it already does work on PC. just a thought.
I haven't looked at the MC biome generation code yet... so I'm not quite sure how this is handled... I suspect that it is just a matter of tweaking some variables around in the world seed generator on spawning, so I 'think' it might not be overly complex to have a user interface that allows you to influence the biome placement, or even turn off certain biomes entirely...
But again, I haven't delved into that side of the code much to give much of an authoritative analysis from this perspective. I'm actually working more on trying to get my son up to speed on basic Java programming concepts before we start playing around with modding on the PC... and that is slow going because he has his school work, chores, other activities, and I only get him part time as it is...

plus dogsled isnt the fastest mode of transportation to get him from the other house to yours

Pah-Lease.... . what have you got that is faster than a dogsled... in 10' of snow... uphill... both ways... that can find their way by scent in the blinding blizzard?
Speaking of Minecraft, modes of transportation, and dogsleds... I think I just had another idea for a suggestion. LOL

Despite the fact that I have a problem with dogs in my main world despawning that would actually be really cool.

Are you sure they are actually despawning? What I mean is I noticed sometimes passive mobs, especially tamed ones, don't render in when a chunk loads until you get to within a few blocks of where you left them.
If you remember where you last left your dog, try walking to that area and hanging out for a minute or so.
Custom MC biome generation would be a great option!
I like the desert myself. So with this tool, for example: say 55% desert, 13% mountains, 10% snow, 5% jungle, 5% regular forest, 5% grassy plains, 5% water, and 2% swamp.
Possibly a slider to move back and forth to choose the amount of terrain with a percentage. ?? Something like that.
i would like to see a set up like a bunch of check boxes........check the biomes you want...move a slider to set the percentage of each....something like that....i also think when you make a flatworld you should be able to set the height of it....like 0 to 64....would be nice to be able to dig down more on a flatworld than 4 blocks....

i was thinking like a pentagram slider where you put the "center" closer to whatever biome you want more of and all the others are decreased. but to have it kinda make sense i think have biomes that are opposite of each other be on opposite sides. so desert and taiga would be opposite, plains and hills would be opposite. and jungle would be opposite of forest. or something like that. an rpg slider would be good too. itd probably make more sense.
'do not create threads that aren't on other platforms, ideas must be original' Just making a crack.
I do.. liek this. It is kind of annoying with everything just being dirt on a super flat world.
want a flat world? well heres some dirt! i used a flatworld to make an ocean world. i hand built several islands. and let me tell you just how fun that is! ....well...i would...but...

hrm... Forrest isn't really opposite Jungle, Jungle and plains are more opposite each other, Ocean and Mountain are opposite... but not really at the same time...
I think the slidebar is good, but on a pentagram or hexagram (or what ever shape you select would not be ideal for as many biomes as there are in the game, and would rule out some combinations that other players might want in particular. What if I want just only desert and forest... or mountain and ocean... or desert and tiaga?

Exactly. ... Slide the bar to that percentage for those biomes and the others wouldn't be generated... in whatever shape... just like now... randomly shaped biomes, just with control of how much one wanted.
As for super flat land, I agree with tehdon. Option of setting the height. Also, what block flat land is, let's say one of the favorites... hmmm... what is it? S something? Sandstone maybe. Whatever block you wanted is my vote.

i was trying to keep up with "true generation" since there are so many worlds with deserts and taiga connected. i mean, when was the last time you made a snowman in the desert?(antarctica doesnt count even though it is a desert)

so in turn what youre saying is you agree with my original idea, youre just using other people who repeated me to do it?

Sorry... I haven't built a snowman in awhile and the nearest 'cold' desert to me is several hundred miles north from where I live... and I don't plan on taking that trip just to build a snowman.
However, in Minecraft, the 'desert' biome is technically considered a 'hot-desert', not a 'cold-desert', so I agree that these biomes shouldn't necessarily be immediately adjacent to each other in most cases. I just don't think that having an either/or opposing climate slider bar is a good way to approach it, because there are other biomes that shouldn't be immediately adjacent to desert either.

i know there are, i was just giving an example. ill try to use a complete geography report next time you want it double spaced?lol

The dogs walk around like they're drunk as is..... So they're better be some real control.

But just so you know... there are cold deserts all around the world (not just in Antarctica):
