Hello again MC community!
So today I was watching the adventure time episode "Blades of grass" and Finn (the protagonist of the TV series) purchases a cursed blade from a shady wizard. So I was thinking that that would be a cool equipment to find in dungeons. Looks like a sword, works like a sword, must be a sword! Wrong! because this blade is cursed! I don't think it should do damage to its owner but perhaps it should be stuck in your hot-bar until it breaks. So it would be stuck with you for a while and would be a nuisance when you want something else in your hot-bar but would not be permanent. (this could also work with armor)
If you have anything to post applying to that please feel free to share.

...and the reason I would put a cursed sword in my hotbar in the first place is.....??????
Oh look... a sword of weakness... think I'll be throwing THAT away...
...and if it did get stuck there... I can tell you what I'd be using to clear out cobblestone for a while.
I would be more accepting of negative enchantments if there was some sort of trade-off. Like a chance to get a higher level enchantment than the XP would normally give, or maybe just a lower XP cost.
For 30 levels you could get a sword with Sharpness V, but perhaps Fragile II - making it break sooner.
As far as the item getting stuck in the hotbar... I'm not entirely opposed to the idea, but I'm not sure the coding involved to make it work is worth it.

I can see this being a bit fun. Besides... it's just ONE spot... It's not like the suggestion is saying we can't have anything in our hotbar at all so long as the sword is in there.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not totally against the idea... but consideration has to go into making it seem like something that you might be interested in equipping and using in the first place. IMO, cursed items, or items intended to poison or catch the player off guard should not be overtly obvious in their deployment, or they would be too easy to avoid and have no real purpose in being added to the game. They also should not be to harmful, otherwise players will grow frustrated and loose interest.

I mean to me.. this would be more tolerable than a creeper blowing a hole in your grass.. and then another blowing up as it is just starting to be prepared.
