I'm always down for a few new tree types. And don't worry about what the planks would look like, guys. There are still plenty of colors left. And if they run out of colors they can always change the actual texture of the plank (think City-pack).
i support this idea. i believe we need more tree types in the game. heres is an idea for the stackable issues that ppl seem to be complaining about. say birch trees and willows could use the same stack, but only in plank form. and palm and jungle trees could fill the same stack, but only in plank form. apple, cherry and oak could fill the same stack even. keep the original tree block separate and have different sapling types. i am all for adding more realism to the game. and having more tree types would increase the realism. good i dea
If you were having problems with stacking issues, you could just make a tree farm with one kind of tree. There is something I always do. I always plant a large jungle tree, which is two by two jungle saplings, and just cut that down whenever the vines grow to the ground. Doing this I gain wood at like ten times the rate I use it.
All of my nice houses are built with a combo of wood, wooden planks, and cobblestone. I don't really use brick because my creations with brick either use too much brick or too little.
I love this idea. Truth be told I'd like to see a lot more types of trees in game too, even if they don't have unique wood plank colors or patterns. I've always wanted to see Willows, Palm trees and big pink Cherry trees!

Black would look fine too. When we get them, witch huts could have this type of wood. It would look better then spruce
Yes, I did make a mistake here... I was thinking of shears, but typed silk touch instead... senior moment.
I only use oak wood for tools and stuff, and use the other woods for buildings.
I like birch wood and brick. I built a really nice house out of it. I use spruce in snow or mountains with stone bricks.
You apparently don't know of any swamps in arctic areas..... It's hard for me to picture a swamp without spruce in it.
