A map for the nether, the over world, and the end should be added. You could press the Start button on the controller, go to Options, and press, "open map" then, another screen comes up asking you which corner to put the map in. When you press "resume game", a small map should appear in the corner that you put it in! To make the map better, you should be able to set a way point so you don't get lost. There should be a color-customizable small square with a title over it saying what that waypoint is. The small square should be on the main screen as well as the map part. It should also tell you how far away you are, but it should be optional or it should be in the way point screen. I prefer the way point screen. Hey! It's like I'm ordering coffee just the way I want it! Except it's ironic because I don't even drink coffe. Anyway! I hope whoever takes care of the updates in minecraft Xbox 360 edition reads this!

Yesterday I was on my way to class, when a black cat fell from the sky. I didn't really know what that nonsense was about so I asked him if I could step around him because he was bad luck, but he simply meowed and then disappeared. I was a bit worried that maybe he'd teleported to Afghanistan or somewhere equally dangerous, but a wizard came and assured me that it was alright. I threw my Zune at him because I was 78% sure he was lying. The wizard roared at me and sentenced my mother to thirty five years of chain smoking. I was sad.
End- About 500 blocks long and wide. Extremely tiny...
Neither of those would work, nor make much sense...

Ok fine! Then how about they should just make one for the over world then.

They do. It's been around since 1.2, I think. And since the beginning of the 360 version...

So then how do you open it and set a way point?

Open your inventory... You wil find an overworld map in your inventory when you spawn into the game. As you explore the world with the map in your hand, it will fill in with the surface terrain features. We cannot put waypoints on the map directly, but if yo build structures larger than 8 by 8 blocks on the surface, they will show up on the map. You can also already craft more overword maps, nether maps and, I believe, End maps. Just take the ingredients needed to craft a map with you and make it while you're inside that dimension.

Well, I don't want the chance of me dying in lava with a map in my inventory. I want to have access to a map that never goes away unless you turn it off.

If you die in lava with a map in your inventory, you can just gather the few basic supplies needed and craft a new one. It will be already filled in with whatever area you have already explored and show whatever larger structures you have built.
He basically wants Rei's minimap from the PC. Im not going to lie I would like to have it as well
I understand that... but I don't think that every online game needs a little map insert always on the screen. Setting up different ways to navigate the world is a unique part of the game's challenge. Also, the worlds are much smaller on the Xbox than the PC, so mini-maps really aren't needed. After you spend even a small amount of time exploring a world, you should be able to navigate quite well without one. There is also a drawback to having an inset map on the Xbox. In 4-player splitscreen mode it would either take up most of the available space or be far too small to show anything meaningful at all.

I completely understand where you are coming from. In my survival I know exactly where I am at all times(except underground)
Get used to your world, Prepare to lose you're map, use a compass, Mark the important places in your world with block towers. Thats all you have to do. Its not that complicated

Yeah I noticed that it works at least for the nether... but when I put the map in a chest or drop it.... it turns back into a normal map!!! So they really need to improve this. Just make them two distinctive different maps if you need to.

I, quite frankly, don't believe you. I have stored a nether map in my chest in my oldest world for about a year... and each time I've pulled it out to use it, it has remained a nether map.
I just had a similar idea, and did a quick search and found this, so I chose to comment here:
I for one support a mini-map. Although I don't like the idea of getting rid of the need to carry a map, I would like to be able to press LT while holding the map to move it to the upper right corner of the screen, LT again to move to the upper left of the screen, LT again to go full screen (regardless of looking up or down, ie, be able to see the bottom of the map without having to look at my feet), and LT again to return back to default holding large map mode.
It would be a nice feature to be able to put different color markers on the map, and maybe even a quick label in a legend on the side for each colored dot (without having to keep an external notebook, cross referencing map coordinates, and building 8x8 structures on the surface).
Although... what I really want is to be able to see the ground and the map while I'm walking at the same time....and not have my visual range almost completely blind me by that same map while I'm walking, and still have my map be updated as I go. I still think I should be holding the map as my primary object to take advantage of the mini-map feature at all.
I actually wouldn't mind this whether it would be in the options menu to enable or not (idea post above). Either way of doing so is still an option, even stated from the very beginning. Also with the way the OP stated it, sounds like by default the mini-map would be off. I prefer it being if you only have a map at least in inventory for it to appear.
it is rather useless underground, but might be good for at least the top side. I actually like both suggestions, the OP and the post above me with a different approach to bring it out. Although it might be better to be an option, by default being off.
For me even though the map is really small, the mini-map could be more zoomed in, like how the rei's mini-map is. Seeing the vicinity around you with some pretty decent detail. Well better than holding the large map out. If anything it could be a world option. I know I would use it.

-"I want to go here."
-Remember.
-Go to location.
Stay fluffy~
And if your memory is a problem or you see a location you'd like go back to, paper and pen, (or a post-it note) works wonders.
However the flipside of that is the early worm gets clobbered!
