Grand theft auto 3
they wanted a open world with three large islands
the ps2 couldnt handle that SO
the loaded each individual island separatly but flowed together by a bridge and a loading screen saying "Welcome to so and so island"
Why cant we have just the option to expand my world i would sacrifice as many GB as i could and multiplayer
anything to kill that invisible wall
So this thread's suggestion is to expand on his idea.
And I agree with it. It'd be relatively simple to do I think.
While I also believe something similar was already made I don't know if it was made quite to this simplicity because the other thread involved portals etc when I believe what he's trying to suggest is.. Instead of going to the edge of the world and hitting a "wall", you just go into a loading screen and loads up that other section.
For this to not seem like an overly generous idea, I'll elaborate my personal touch to the idea; that once one border is crossed.. The other "world" Doesn't have any borders that can be crossed. Only the borders attached to the original world's four sides can be crossed. So in the original part of the world... You can cross four sides. In the other worlds, you can only cross back from the section you came from.
For another part of my touch to the idea, this doesn't apply to the Nether, or the End. The other dimensions remain the same size, and if a portal is in either sections, you go to the same Nether, same End, etc.
Or perhaps... Have it be done only in the original part of the world and you cannot make portals in the cross sections of the original world.
Now.. I'm sure there is many flaws, or questions to this idea that may or may not be "doable" for this idea but I guess that's what these forums are about.
The specific challenge you will have to overcome is how are you going to handle 2-4 player splitscreen on the same console?
I doubt that the XB360 wouldn't be able to handle 2 or more over-worlds simultaneously.
However, you are right in that this is similar to my "A Spawned Port, New Worlds to Explore..." post where I suggested shipping ports instead of bridges:

Yeah I knew it was in one of the threads, I just didn't know which one because I know there are many of them. I felt reluctant to Make this thread.. But because I thought it required so much typing and possible discussion on just that idea.. it required its own thread.
And yeah, I think that it would be tough with players in the cross sections.. I did think of that but I just decided to let it come out in the thread here.
The general solution that was suggested in other threads is to make it required that all players agree to move to the new location at the same time (sort of like the condition of sleeping in a bed to make day pass to night).

I see..
I remember.

SO..... My apologies for this long typed thread.
