The Max players allowed in a game is 8 and if anyone has ever tried to run a PvP or Rpg server its very hard having tons of people waiting to join spamming you with messages,
As a result of this I came up with an proposal of having an DLC of an player increase from 8-12 not everyone has to buy it as dlc's are always optional.
I have also been hearing that 12 players will make the game laggy well if dedicated servers were imported 12 players would only be a Start. Ive read post about the servers being alked about with Microsoft but not much after that.
Servers may also be dlc(Minecraft needs more dlc)
Well all feedback is welcomed bad or good.
P.S Games like Total miner (indie games) have support for up to 24 players and i dont think they have servers whats so hard with implementing 12 players to minecraft as an dlc
Dedicated/ rentable servers would be pretty good to increase the player cap. However games like total miner and fortresscraft lag like hell when you get more than four people in a world.
At the time of posting the next generation xbox hasn't even been announced so obviously we don't have proof of any games being on the next gen xbox.
Now then let's look at facts:
Minecraft, to date, on the xbox, has sold over 6 million copies.
Minecraft is one of the most played Xbox Live Games, consistently staying in the top 10, if not the top 5, right up there with Halo, CoD, and many other AAA games.
Minecraft is a highly popular and profitable game
So, logically, it will more than likely, like 99% chance of being on the next gen xbox.

You need a bit more .9999999999999 in that 99% stat.

I put my shirt on one leg at a time, just like everybody else.
Well to be honest idc if the 720 isnt released this year as long as the 360 could implement servers then max player size would be possible to increase 12 int even alot to ask for. and as for totalminer got anyproof of the lag

I hope the 720 gets released around Christmas so I have some money then.

I would love to see dedicated servers, and a player limit increase as well, these two things would make minecraft xbox 360 edition's multiplayer experience much more like the multipayer experience on the pc, and allow us to find more people to play minecraft with as well, this is the one thing we really NEED to improve the game
Not sure if possible.
Because of coding differences and other stuff.
But maybe next gen consoles will use something simular Java script so cross platforming is possible.

so theyre increasing it to what...12? 16? with the xbone? why cant they do that with 360? xbone is getting world increase plus lobby increase. i think we should have one or the other as some sort of balance. sure the 360 has older hardware but like iDraw said. make the expansion optional. that way you can try to run it if you want and if it doesnt work, turn it off.

Think about that for a moment... wouldn't you get a little ticked off at a company that sold DLC that didn't have much hope of working and then didn't work when you bought and tried it?
I think the company has a responsibility to sell DLC for the 360 that has a hope of actually working on the 360; and I do think the issue with increasing the player limit further on the 360 has to do with the limitations of the Xbox 360 hardware combined with how much of those processing resources are consumed by the running of Live itself.
I've been taking a gander at the coding structure for the PC version for client/server interaction. The way server side handling was set up on the PC side can create tremendous strain in an envirnment as limited as the XB360. 4J isn't really redisigning the code so much as porting it over from Java into C++ for Consoles. In order to support a significant increase in players, the event/net handler would have to take on a more peer-to-peer design and less of a client/server design... which would require a major revision of the software. This is unlikely to happen in the grand scheme of things due to the complexity of making this happen.

Well. Let's put some logic into this.

Don't we all. If only though...

I think the planning and announcement time would both be big for servers.
But hopefully they do add them at some point.
