I would like the abillty to create a calendar that determines weather for the next 7 days. biome specific. if your check a calendar in a desert all you are going to see is dry dry dry dry dry dry as if you were to look at a calendar in a forest you would see rain rain normal cloudy cloudy normal. also seasons. it would rain more in spring than it would fall
This is a very poor counterargument right here.
Say for some God-forbidden reason you play CoD.
I'm sure you'd hate campers and spawn killers, but just because you don't like them doesn't mean people won't do it anymore.
And we have clear days with clouds off, some more-overcast days, clearers ones, rain, and thunder.
You just need to not be as jumpy...or just accept the weather.
I, too, am not seeing the point of this... can you explain what use this calendar will be other than to maybe forecast the weather in a specific area? Would it be limited to just the Biome that it is in? How would it handle the whole (explored) map if that is your idea... and more importantly, what would a player do with this information? It's not like you can change it...
No support. Weather is a game mechanic that changes the spawn and despawn of the mobs in the game. It is intended to be an unpredictable, random event so that the "disappearance" of monsters in the daylight isn't a surety (aside, that is, from knowing that if you're in a desert, it won't rain and if you're in a snow biome it will snow instead of rain)... this game is a "survival" game after all.

I have a feeling this idea might not go well. Mainly with "no supports" ,and I do agree with NO support. I LIKE how the weather how it is.
I don't believe that the OP was suggesting a way to change the current weather patterns... it seems that he just suggested a way to predict upcoming weather patterns within certain areas...
He also may be indirectly suggesting implementing seasonal changes too...

... and that's why I said that the feature was intended to be UNPREDICTABLE.

ahhh, I was too focused on the "RANDOM EVENT" part... of which making the OP's idea doesn't make it any less of a random event, but does, as you point out, make it more predictable.
I don't have a problem with the overall idea, but I fail to see the usefulness of it and can't really support what might otherwise ultimately be effectively, more or less, a waste of time to implement code that would rarely if ever be used in game by only a handful of players. The coding that would have to go into it would pose a little bit of a challenge as it isn't a super easy implementation.

I agree. The OPs suggestion isn't what I expected at all when I saw the title. I thought that perhaps he was asking for a feature that would enable players to know how many Minecraft days have passed since a world was first created (or alternatively, how many hours have been played by each player in that particular world). This would perhaps give more relevance to some of the stats on the leaderboards.
I suppose if the core idea behind the Calender was to suggest implementing annual seasonal changes which impact weather patterns more dramatically, that could be interesting. ie. snow expands out from winterland areas during the winter months, and receeds back in during the summer months (is relatively normal in spring/fall.
Late fall could see some of the random growth plants 'die' off, and new growth 'spawning' around late spring into early summer. There could be rain seasons and dry seasons where rain is more likely or less likely respectively.
The 'seasonal year' could hinge on the cycles of the moon, ie. since our year is usually roughly 13 lunar cycles in real life, we could have something similar with the MC lunar cycles.
If this were the case, it wouldn't make the weather really any more predictable, but would allow certain trends to be more or less likely depending on day of the year.

I still fail to see how it would really do anything much for the game aspects. As it is, the weather does play a role in the game's strategy regarding hostile mobs. From a creative aspect, people building on certain themes already get really upset if an update changes the climate around their builds. I'm not sure all would be any more pleased to see snow come and go over their vacation resorts builds. If people build a ski resort (for example), I think they would probably prefer that visitors to their world would see it covered in snow regardless of the alleged "time of year" they might view it. Additionally, the behavior of snow would have to be altered such that it actually melts. This would likely cause many to avoid building many structures from snow blocks since they would not be permanent.
There are pros and cons to most ideas, and I can see your point. Although I wouldn't object to being able to turn on/off Seasonal Effects from the options menu, and if this were to be included in an update, the default setting could be off so it wouldn't impact previous TU created worlds unless the creator specifically and intentionally turned the feature on.

I'm impartial.. mostly because..
I don't see why it matters if you can predict the weather because there's no need to adapt to it.. or having the ability to change it.. etc.
However.. if it was implemented on the idea that say.. Certain types of farming, animals, etc would only be around in that particular season then it would definitely give it more purpose.
For example, Winter is coming.. Better stock up on foods because most will be unavailable, and maybe the only available food is what you stocked up on the previous season. Or.. maybe the only readily available thing is Rabbits (a new animal that would be fast and run away like Ocelots)...
Summer is coming, the droughts of hot summer could happen and destroy your crops such as wheat, (I don't think it matters with Watermelon).
Spring is coming, Farming is very plentiful. etc.
I know for an experienced player who knows quite well what they are doing, all of those would never happen probably. But I was just trying to add onto the idea etc.

This addon idea actually has some appeal to me. Perhaps an optional "seasonal" mode?
Yes i like this it will add so much more of a challenge to survival. season mode i SUPPORT plus calendar. how about lets say if its winter instead of it just snowing maybe there could be heavy snow light snow or bllizard or maybe just no snow at all. i like were this is going / also when its winter u will find pigs and cows and other are much much scarce.
Where's the fun of that?
And what would the point of this be? Yes, you now know it'll rain in 60 minutes, so what?
