There is something lacking in the Xbox's multiplayer... Aside from the obvious slow updates and lack of mods, there is something that people don't seem to call out upon: PLUGINS.
Something that I believe most PC Minecraft players will know is that their favourite servers or the ones they log onto most are almost never a vanilla server. Most of the popular servers are probably Bukkit servers full of plugins. Plugins without doubt make every server better. They add extra objective to a plain grief-full vanilla server and make things much more interesting. I've noticed that the people on my Xbox Live friends list are beginning to stop play Minecraft on the Xbox; mainly due to the fact that Xbox servers are repetitive and boring. Any Minecraft player will admit that it gets really boring continuously creating a world completing the game and repeating the process. But anyone who play PC doesn't have to do this: plugins on servers reignite that interest for world development.
In my own personal opinion plugins should be seen on the Xbox Minecraft servers as extra options, much like the "Fire Spread" and "TNT Explosion" options. Plugins such as the "Economy" Plugin and the "Chest Shop" Plugin should become part of the options menu. There shouldn't be too many problems implementing these plugins if they are worked on in a "smart" way.
The Economy plugin could work. The currency could be part of the inventory menu; the money could appear as a tab that is part of the inventory. When clicked on there could be options: "Pay", "Use", "Buy", etc. When "Pay" is clicked, all the players in the server could be listed; clicking on a player would result in a menu where you select how much money you are going to give. Use and buy could come to purpose too but they would most likely work best with extra plugin support. Also a host privilege should be too have an infinite amount of money.
Chest shops could also work. But instead of using a sign to create the shop, a menu should come up after placing a sign and using perhaps a button in the inventory that could say "Create Shop". Buying and selling could work both with the economy plugin and/or vanilla blocks such as gold and diamonds.
Other plugins such as MCMMO could change Minecraft Xbox entirely. Heaps of new objective would come to the game adding a much more interesting experience. Teleportation and warping be interesting to, especially if "Warp" signs are used. Once again warping and teleportation could be part of the inventory menu.
Basically, plugins, in the form of options in the menu should be part of Minecraft Xbox servers. They should not be forced meaning that players who enjoy or would prefer vanilla Minecraft can enjoy that and the players who want plugin options, have the chance to experience new Minecraft gameplay, especially people who have not had the chance to experience plugins on the PC. They would come to much benefit to the Minecraft community. Plugins are one of the best things on PC minecraft, so why shouldn't they be part of Minecraft Xbox?

Non-vanilla optional content has already been suggested in another thread... since I'm the one that originally suggested it, I support it.
And before anyone says it, no we are not talking about User Created mods that violate MS terms of Service, we are talking about Mojang/4J produced/published optional updates.
