Hard mode just isnt hard enough to why not make it harder?
to make it harder with a hydration bard or thirst bar where you need water to survive
therefor making it harder to survive in deserts and add some realism
Being in different biomes speeds or slows your hydration Ex.
Being in a Jungle will slow your hydration by 10-25%
Being in a desert biome will speed your hydration by 10-25%
And losing all your hydration will cause a slowness and nausea effect
If your hydration is not refilled within 5-10 mins you will start to see odd things
and start losing half a heart each second
What do you think of this idea?
As good of an idea this is and as much as I think this would be would perfect for hard mode, Our player community just doesn't wanna make minecraft harder. We have our majority of people who'd like a difficult mode but, there are just too many people who think minecraft is perfectly balanced (When it really isn't)
I generally tend to support moving toward realism in games, but there is a limit to how far you can go for it to be fun as opposed to just tedious. For example, it wouldn't add much fun to the game if you added urine/feces bars that built up as you consumed food and water, and you had to regularly go find a place to go empty your bladder and bowels... or face the consequences...
Adding a thirst bar can make the game more tedious overall by giving you just another thing to have to keep track of. Then again, it might work for the game too.
How would you handle the initial starter character. If they didn't have a vial or a bucket, could they still approach a stream or lake and use an empty hand to LT on the water source to drink straight from the source... could you drink from the runoff?
Would you have a crafting recipe that only requires leather and doesn't require a crafting table to make a waterskin to collect water and hold a certain number of drinks (uses the item health bar to determine how full/empty it is)?
I'm curious how you see the naked Steve that is dropped in this world first time... how is he going to survive his first night?
I support your idea Be nice to add hydration to HARD Mode Get buckets of water and have them store in bottles and save up a lot so when you decide to go underground or do whatever bring few bottles ,and save them then use it to add some more water for later.

Soooo your first day upon spawning REQUIRES you to find 3 iron ore or 3 blocks of sand to smelt in a furnace while making your shelter with adequate lighting, just so you have the additional nuisance of keeping rack of hydration for the rest of the game?
This really only offers a challenge when you are first starting and haven't got established yet, once you get established, it becomes much more of an annoyance than it serves as a challenge.
And really going to suck if you spawn on a water world with sparse islands and almost no trees.... "Water, water, everywhere, and not a drop to drink"

I was going to make a detailed topic on this but I can't anymore but what I was thinking was you could stand in water holding a certain button would allow you to drink but drinking from a random puddle gives you a 30% chance of thirst poison wich drains your thirst a bit faster

I proposed a way to drink without needing a container, but that seems to take away from the purpose of adding it into 'Hard' mode if you take that challenge away.
How would the game (what parameters would be used to...) determine the difference between "a puddle" and "not a puddle"?
All water source blocks are potentially raging rivers or large runoffs (like from a spring)....

I was thinking of adding purified water you take a bottle of water and put it in a stove and get a bottle of purified water witch will not dehydrate you faster
None of my questions/concerns that I had raised were addressed in this. So no support from here. I see this as something that could make start of play excessively difficult, but at the same time once you get yourself set, it offers 0 challenge and just becomes a nuisance for the player. Saying "Then don't play in Hardcore mode" is a weak defense at best, and excludes a lot of players that would otherwise like to play Hardcore, but don't want to deal with the tediousness of keeping track of this, not because they think of it as a challenge, but because ti will become very annoying over time.

It's a simple defense don't like it then don't play on hardcore not much else to say just stay on hard
I was seriously going to post this like 3 months ago but then i thought "Nah, i won't bother. It's not that cool...". Now what do you know, someone has stolen my idea!
Haha, jk but it is true i think it would be a little nice though i would change a lot of what has been said about it so far...
Adding more realism to the game does not necessarily make it more challenging or more fun. For example, you could add the challenge that you cannot punch down wood blocks with your fists, that you must use a stone or better ax, and a stone pick would realistically break after 1-2 stone blocks (wood tools wouldn't work at all except as shovels and hoes), so you are loosing ground unless you use an iron pick.
There you go, a challenge for hardcore, you can't get the materials unless you have the materials to start with to acquire them in the first place, so you are dead when you start. and if you don't like it, then don't play on Hardcore.

That game mode does exist. Only on computer it's called adventure mode and its pretty fun and your taking it to far here come on. We only want a hydration bar not complete reality it's a dam game not real life

Well...anyways, you've got my support

Then dont play in Hardcore mode
You said Hard Mode in your post, if it's Hardcore Mode... then yeah you got your wish I wouldn't.
If it's HARD mode... Then yeah my point of hating it still stands.
If you don't want me to point out that I don't like it... "then don't post the wrong word you're intending" (I know what you mean now.. but still)
It's a simple defense don't like it then don't play on hardcore not much else to say just stay on hard

It's also a very un-recommended defense if anyone else has read the "GUIDELINES FOR GOOD SUGGESTIONS"
