Was wondering if there could be an OPTION to turn off the effects the biomes hav, most namely snow biomes. Maybe could treat this like the bedrock fog option. so basicaly you can turn off snow in the menu before you load up your map. My hole top of my world is coverd in snow and ruined all my stuff : ( I know that this prob is very commin and most people just deal with it, but is an option out of the question? Surely there has to be a way. We even hav an option to turn off clouds!
* A couple of posts down I further explained my issues with this problem(twice). I relized that i wasnt very clear in this original post and im new to posting on fourms, so i don't know what im doing, lol
Dealing with the weather is just part of the game, but then again, so are the other effects such as clouds and the bedrock fog... this option is in alignment with the super flat world generation, with that, you might as well include an option to turn off the day/night cycle, and maybe even set a static time of day (or at least be able to toggle between noon and midnight).
That being said, I'd probably never use it, but I support the idea in general.
My world was slowly devoured by this plague known as "snow". My world was practically snowless until this plague came along, slowly covering my world. Block by block. Some of us carefully select our world in order to ensure that the world in which we will be living in is fit to our choosing. Watching our nearly perfect world slowly succumb to the ugliness of snow can be a truly horrific sight indeed.
Having a option to turn snow effects off would only benefit us minecraftians and the minecraft community. The forums would no longer be a sharing ground for what is now (snow plague) but instead a sharing of what once was (fixed snow plague).
To clarify my world only had snow in some spots, so i made stuff in other places. I made a hotel on a beach with trees and it WAS beautiful and now is all coverd in snow! I put that hotel there for a reason, if i wanted a winter wonderland i would hav found a snowy world. Not to mention the snow is growing like crazy its inveloping the half of my world, were it souldnt be. Ive spent over 1000 hours makeing this world : ( Again i know that were just supposed too deal with it, but as allways an OPTION to remove the snow effect would make everyone happy... because its an option.
Im really worried that it will keep spreding and ruin everything. Im building farther and farther away from it because i dont want to log on after a new update and find that my new stuff is coverd too : (
As for goin to the roof of my world and putting glass, i just dont hav the resources to cover that much space. I only play in survival and I like my stats saveing so useing creative mode is out of the question.
Maybe if 4J can figure out how to let use port saves to next gen and get infinite worlds, i will be able to find a dessert with enough sand to make like 20000 glass, lol... sigh. (not to mention the coal required)
Hrm.... snow isn't supposed to 'spread' as far as I know, I haven't heard that 'seasonal' changes over time has been implemented. If Snow covered areas are spreading... I wonder if the reverse ever happens, if you start in a winter wonderland, does the snow ever recede? Are their seasonal changes in the game, or is it apparent spread of snow a one way climate change, and if so, wouldn't that be a glitch/bug that would need to be reported?

This is a suggestion for the 360 version of Minecraft. While downloading something like that would be nice, it will not work for those of us who play Minecraft on the 360.

This happened to me too, I began my new villiage, it was all going well (it didn't look like a tyga biome, at all.) and I log onto my game and it randomly starts snowing, whole village covered in snow, there were no pines or nothing to show it was a tyga biome, so I think this would be a useful feature, very disheartening when you learn your work has been covered in snow, and theres no way to prevent it!
Well, if you want to do a tedious project, you can put a glass cover in the sky over your village and it will block the snow. I'm assuming anyway.. Cause I did that for rain, so I don't see why it wouldn't work for snow.
I don't really have a problem with weather. I enjoy the snow But I suppose it would be a good feature to have just in case. Side Note: I did turn bedrock fog off though, It's a little sketchy when you strip mine near bedrock. Herobrine could appear out of no where. JK, I don't think Herobrine is in the game.
To clarify some more, this is a issue that happens when a new title update comes out, that has new biomes. I created my world a long time ago, two mounths after the game came out on Xbox 360. It was green, I picked it because it was green. The first update that added new biomes to the game changed my exesting world, i did not make a new world. I saw that the green grass out side of my house was now split, some of it being green ,some of it being off green. I asked around and people sayed thats because your biomes ar changing(because of the update). That was fine, just a new colour, what ever. But after a few more updates my biomes started to change to SNOW biomes, and trust me you never want to deal with that!
I hav looked this up and there are lots of posts out there of this happing to people, and most people just tell them to deal with it. Thats why I suggested for 4j to just let us turn off the snow effect as a simple fix for now.
If you hav no idea what im talkn about and hav never experianced this problem, then i wish that it stays that way... This issue will ruin your world and all the hard work you hav done : (
If your in creative or dont mind useing it on your world then put glass to cover up the rain/ snow from falling, but my space is too big for survival and will not use creative.
This is not something that we sould hav to deal with.
Hrm... I see the issue... basically, you created a world before the snow biomes were fully implemented, and when they were fully implemented your world seed now expects there to be snow biomes in areas where there never were snow biomes before...
So an alternative fix would be to have an option to use the original weather pattern for your world seed when it was generated... although this would mean that the game would also have to track which version the game was created under, and keep weather effect for each TU moving forward... probably no easy backward fix using this idea unless the games are already saved with the TU versions they were created on from the start...
Probably just easiest to do as you suggested and have an optional switch to turn off weather effects in general.
This actually reminds me of a suggestion that someone else posted to be able to change the game seed after the world was generated (in order to alter weather effect).

Not really. Im gona say its bug with the title updates, that just changes biomes in your world. My world had snow in it allready, when i started it.
Another point is that my friend made his world not to long ago, a couple of mounths before the last title update, but it was this year. He picked a beautiful spot, with no snow and build on the plot of land for months, then right after the new update (i think it was TU12 on 360) his world was coverd in snow, over all the stuff he had been building for the past months. He started his world way after the game came out and definitly after the snow biomes were implemented. Its a known bug or issue that i guess they cant fix : ( just hope that the option to turn off snow isnt out of the question.
There's not just one Winterland biome... there are 6 Winterland biomes mentioned in the Wiki, and as I recall, the Mountainous Tagia (with spruce trees) was only recently added. still not sure if/when they added the cold beach, snowy river, and ice plains.... I think the basic Cold Taiga (with Oak Trees) has been in the game for awhile though. I don't believe that they have added the Ice Plains Spikes as yet, though (only on PC as far as I know).

We are talking about how our worlds are being covered with snow. Our once beautiful, virtually snowless worlds are being COVERED with snow ever since the last title update. My world had snow in one corner of the map before this TU. After this last title update, snow started generating directly in the center of the map where I have the structures I have spent countless hours on. It's worse then you think though, it isn't just staying in the center of my world, it is actually spreading all across my world and ruining what I wanted my world to look like. I want a vast, green world. Not a world littered with snow which covers everything it comes across and is a visual disturbance to my world.
This is a suggestion thread: The suggestion is simple: An option to turn off biome effects. In this particular case - SNOW. There needs to be a "Snow on/off" option; This option is self explanatory - It will turn off snow so that it can't ruin what you've spent so long to create. It's a plague on my world and I want it gone. There is no reason why this shouldn't be an option. I do not care what my biome is or what biomes my world has. I don't want snow ruining my world.
