Not sure if this has been discussed already but I'll bring it up anyway.
I think adding some new elemental attributes to weapons would be a pretty decent idea.
Adding an Ice effect to a weapon which has the possibility of slowing an enemy down.
Adding a lightning effect to a weapon that has a chance to paralyze an enemy as well as the ability to turn creepers into super charged creepers as I find they are rarely seen. (I've only ever seen one).
There could be a couple more but these are a few off the top of my head.
Wow. This honestly is kind of interesting. How are the attributes attached to the Weapon? Through normal crafting by chance or did you have something else in mind?
I would say just through an enchanting table the same way as fire aspect is applied unless they took the fire aspect enchantment away from the table and have separate enchanting techniques for the elements.
For example to gain Ice aspect to a weapon you have to kill 100 enemies in the snow or something like that but if someone was going to go through the effort of gaining an element aspect through a challenge like that the anvil would have to be implemented to ensure you don't lose your weapon.
Fire: Hitting a 100 enemies into larva with your sword will grant you fire aspect for the sword.
Ice: Killing 100 enemies when it is snowing will grant you ice aspect for the sword.
Wind: Hitting 100 enemies off edges that than cause them to die from fall dame grants you wind aspect.
Lightning: Kill 100 enemies during a thunder storm will grant lightning aspect.
Once you finish a certain challenge you will see an elemental symbol (Flame, Snow Flake, Tornado or Lightning Bolt) in the bottom right of the screen temporarily to inform you that you have completed the process.

I think this is a really good idea but I would prefer it to be enchantment table.
Nice profile picture there my favourite musicians
I was thinking of a new enchantment.It would be called poison. Poison 1 would have a 15% chance to poison you for 3 seconds
Poison 2 would have 25% chance to poison you for 6 seconds
Poison three would have 30% chance to paralyze you for 3 seconds and poison you for 6
The only reason I thought that the attributes could be acquired through challenges rather than the enchanting table is I hate the chance factor in not knowing what you're going to get.

What if you could use those elemental abilities with something like a magic wand?
The possibilities to have and use a new weapon. The magic wand could be created from sticks +lapis +enchanted book maby? Idk just tossing in ideas.

hey just an idea but how about a crafting recipe using a weapon and and an essence like one for each element these essences would drop from world bosses that would respawn after a certain amount of time also it would be interesting that if you wanted to you could make an ultimate essence that is made of all the four elements heres what i think they should do
Earth raise and lower the level of blocks in the map in a row with increments of 5 blocks
Water create water in a column with increments of 5 blocks
Fire leave a ring of fire with a radius of an increment of 5x5
Wind make wind that blows all items in a radius with increments of 10x10 the wind then take sthe items and goes towards the player where all the items are dropped directly above the player allowing the player to collect all the items
Ultimate on use, opens a small menu allowing you to choose which element u want to use, when the item is not being selected or placing an item imbued with the ultimate essence in the inventory you will have to choose the element to use again
a = Earth
b = fire
X = water
y = earth
also using the elements frequently can cause the item to be used up and broken except instead of being removed you will get a broken item icon allowing the tool to be repaired using a furnace with the damaged tool sealing the essence inside making the tool stronger but also unbreakable and with a 1% chance that it will cause one of the following
fire, will randomly leave fire trails when u are walking on the ground with the tool in hand(this fire does not hurt the player)
water, will randomly place water in a place close to the player while walking on the ground with the tool in hand
earth, will randomly lower or raise the terrain near the player while walking on the ground with the tool in hand
wind, will randomly blow items on the ground towards the player while walking on the ground with the tool in hand
these imbued tools cannot be enchanted unless it is broken which will make a normal enchanted weapon that will break normally
cool ideas huh?

What is a super charged creeper?
A mystical beast of the stormy night.
1 in a million.
When lightning strikes a creeper it turns into a suer charged creeper which leaves a larger blast radius when it explodes.
