Ok, we all know that Notch has stated there would never be an aircraft but he said the same to dragons, I'm only wanting a air vehicle that can be built using current block (that search led me to Zeppelins). They could be built using iron for the structure, wool for the skin, use a furnace and a bucket of water to get a steam engine (I thought of this after using the powered minecart and figuring it was supposedly using steam), and lastly, a furnace to heat up the air inside.
Now, this would create a whole new world of exploration!
To balance this out, you would have to have it so that; if you ran out of coal in the steam engine, you couldn't move anywhere; if you ran out in the furnace(s) (depending on if you have to use more then one to build it) you would start to float down (increasing speed as it when to where you could die from fall damage); if the craft is hit by lightning, it bursts into flames and there is a high chance that everyone on board (lets say capacity is 5-10 people) take burn damage and fell damage from the ship crashing down; and lastly, the ship would have the realistic drawback of randomly catching fire due to malfunctions (unless someone went around the ship and repaired things periodically).
This ship would keep the game balanced out and enable people to get around mountain sides without having to climb over or go through them.
I would love to see how many people agree and disagree and, don't forget to put your REASONS FOR WHY!!!

Baannounik shall destroy the future and rule over Fyurik's realm!!!
I don't like things that are arguably complicated like your suggestion or the Better Than Wolves mod, but eh why not? I would get used to it if it does get put into MC360.
Our worlds are really not that large for air travel, and I don't see to much of a use outside of "I don't want to go over this mountain."
Rails work fine on land; boats are fine in water.
Granted it does kind of fit into the Minecraft "theme," I still can't see this being implemented, especially if we are to get horses down the road.

This! Hopefully we get horses soon! I really want to ride them around like Link!
I'd even hold carrots in my hand for fun! Or a bow. Yeah its going to make survival more interesting.
