Every time the game updates and things are added, the chests don't and you can't get all the things in survival mode. Most recent is Jungle Trees, because of the update, you can't get them on a world that was created prior to the Jungle Biome update, if your world didn't have cactus or a different plant, you could not and cannot get that in your game without going into creative and getting rid of your ability of getting achievements.
In other words, can you guys put the new items that are added in the update, just one of each, into a new bonus chest a few paces away from where your character spawns, or the nearest above ground area of land available, you could also put it around the normal area for chests? That way we don't have to go into creative mode to get it in our game.

Baannounik shall destroy the future and rule over Fyurik's realm!!!
Oh, I also thought of having Jungle Trees drop Jungle Tree Saplings so that you can get more of them, make it so they fall after every, say, thirty leaves or so (this would require having Jungle Tree Leaves as well).

This has been suggested a few times before; and I still think it is a good suggestion that could work well for the addition of growing things. However, I would also like to see it occasionally add some of the other blocks that cannot be grown, depending on the date the world was created. I would also like to see an option for the host to toggle the bonus chest on or off after the world has been created.

The problem with toggling is then you can just respawn it for yourself a few times and have everything you need, and with the blocks that cannot be grown or made; live without them, it really isn't that big of a deal unless your in super flat and then it's your fault.

and how is that different from the persistent one now? Minus the block bit of course. I actually wouldn't mind seeing other common materials inside the bonus chest, as it is meant for a start or basic stuff after all. Saplings and wood is hardly op. wood or stone tools is not really anything to say you are set. after all stone tools do not break diamond, some ores, and obsidian.
The only other blocks I wouldn't mind seeing is possibly the various wood types being intermingled, less likely would be bits of cobble. Saplings would be good for the chest; being able to get other types of trees from the beginning. It is not like we are asking diamonds iron or something like that to be in the chest. that would be plain idiotic if that was the case. I am sure that is not what they meant though.
Common materials to widen the variety that the bonus chest offers would be nice. Having it toggle is not really a big deal in a way since it is not you that would toggle, it is the host. Those that don't like playing with the chest can do without, if they have temptation like it was chocolate; then they aught to learn more self control. After all I see minecraft in a way a learning experience unto itself. Some things can be drawn from it, especially if you are a builder. Creativity is a good thing, the only bad is possibly what some would do with that creativity.
I don't know for fact what the others are thinking, but I can at least voice how I see things. I for one do use the chest. To me I probably wouldn't even turn it off, as I like it there, kinda like an emergency supply that the outside world has dropped off for those times in dire need. Could be aliens that have beamed it down and unspokenly say here, start a world and build what you want. These are just things I come up with for each world, I guess my own view or justification. I don't use the box much since the first few times, but I know it is there for when I need a quick minor tool or basic stuff. Once I usually get settled in a world I usually forget the box is there, since I have the supplies I need from digging so much, and building.:D

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.

Right now, I can produce a bonus chest in my own world as often as I want, just by continually breaking it then saving and exiting the game. A new one forms whenever the world is next loaded up again. The option to toggle it on or off would, more often than not, be used by people to turn the dang thing off when they no longer feel they need any of the items it is likely to contain. I can envision a host perhaps wanting to toggle it on to give a new player in their world some basic items the first time that new player enters it... and then the host would toggle it off again, so one doesn't keep forming each time the world is loaded up again.

All you have to do is ope it and save, then you don't have that chest, that's all I'm saying about it. You would have a more direct, noncheating way to get infinite bonus chests.

Currently, you have to leave the chest in place to avoid having another chest form. If you destroy the chest or cover the chest over in any way, a new chest will form the next time to reload the world. If you want to build in the area of the initial spawn, this does pose an annoyance. That's why I (and others - see Tamorr's comment) would like the option to toggle it off.
