If a statistical menu was implemented showing percentage of: Diamond mined, Stone mined, number of items crafted, mobs killed, blocks destroyed by TNT or Creeper, etc similar to the GTA games I think that there would be a percentage of players striving for 100% diamonds mined status. Easily implemented. Maybe unloaded chucks could still be surveyed? Thoughts?

If you haven't explored all the chunks your should just stop dreaming of 100% diamonds.

I put my shirt on one leg at a time, just like everybody else.
One issue I see with going a percentage route for expressing blocks mined in a world is that many of the blocks are now actually renewable. 1) The nether is resettable, so there any percentages for netherrack, netherbrick, soul sand, and even gravel would continually be getting reset whenever the nether was reset. 2) Stone and cobblestone can be legitimately generated infinitely in the overworld, so this presents the same sort of issue as the blocks found in the nether. 2) Silk touch means that many of the ore blocks can be mined intact and then used in builds or placed again and remined, so again the percentages would be going up and down rather than just progressing.
I AM in favor of changing the leaderboards to stats pages that reflect individual worlds (or servers) rather than comparing people who are playing different sorts of Minecraft games in vastly different worlds with each other worldwide. I would also prefer to see them expressed as rates rather than just accumulated numbers or percentages. For example, you would get an average of, say, cobblestone mined per hour played or kills of X per hour played or item X farmed per hour played. This then would more accurately reflect what people are spending time working on while in their Minecraft worlds and who is being more skillful and efficient... rather than just really showing who is spending the most time out of their life playing Minecraft as a whole.

But don't be surprised when that percentage is surprisingly small.
"Yeah, man, it took quite some time."
Percentage for blocks would be pointlessly low and there is no mob percent since they infinitely spawn.
Stay fluffy~
What's your point?
