Okay so I had a very good idea regarding Mashup Packs in Minecraft Xbox360 Edition. Okay so the basic idea is that you should be able to make your own mashup packs using existing Bought/Trial/Default Textures/UIS/Music Discs/Sounds/Creature + Steve Skins. Not actually make your own Textures/Sounds/Music Discs/UIs/Creature + Steve Skins but use existing ones.
You would create a new mashup pack via the games main menu (Not during a game) and save it to your harddrive. If you use any parts form trials packs to make your custom mashup pack then you won't be able to save in-game.
Okay so it would show 5 Large tabs at the top. One tab would be for Textures, Another for Game Sounds, Another for UIs, Another for Music Disc Sounds ,and a fifth tab for Creature and Steve Skins.
TEXTURES TAB:
There would have a series of boxes with the names of the All the items in the game. Each box when clicked on would display all available textures for that item (Meaning it will only show default textures and any texture pack/ mash up pack textures for that item that you have downloaded Eg. Mass Effect pack) and then you click on the texture for that item you want to use. You would do this for the items textures you want to change. By default each box would contain the default textures before modifying anything.
GAME SOUNDS:
The game sounds tab would have another series of boxes labeled by what the sounds are for. By default the default sounds would be in each box until again you click on a box and select the one from what pack you own that you want.
UIS:
Same as above you would just select the UI you want from any mashup pack you own.
MUSIC DISC SOUNDS:
The music disc sounds tab would be the same as above.
CREATURE SKINS + STEVE SKIN (the default skin(s) displayed if you don't equip a skin):
This tab would contain a series of boxes with each animal displayed and steve(s) and their default textures. When the box is clicked on it would show all the textures available for that animal/steve and you would select the one you want. With steve there are 8 different default steve textures foir players that join so only these types of skins would be chosen (Not lets say for instance a christmas tree skin or something)...
Okay so when you are done you would click save as new Mash Up Pack and name it and it would be displayed where you select your texture packs. Obviously you should be able to edit it/rename it and delete it. Also an automatically generated image would be shown showing all the textures like the rest of the packs show.
HOW IT WOULD WORK:
Okay so if someone joined your game and they didn't have any of the textures contained in that texture pack you made they would be prompted to download ALL of the trials of the packs. You can save only if you own ALL of the content used to make the pack. If you only have trials of some of the packs needed then you cannot save.
If lets say you deleted one of the texture packs used in your pack then what would happen is the parts of the pack that used that texture pack/mash up pack you deleted would go back to default textures until you reinstalled the texture pack/ mashup pack you deleted. A warning would be displayed if loading a map with a custom mashup pack that is missing downloadable content telling you that your game might not look as good unless you redownload your bought/trial texture pack and of course displaying the name of what pack(s) are missing.
IF A FILE SHARING SYSTEM EXISTS:
Okay so if a file sharing system eventually exists then a rule needs to be added:
1. If someone downloads your custom pack then they need to own all parts of it to save in a game. If they have a trial pack they cannot save in their game.
PRICE???:
I don't know if this should be in an update, as DLC OR if it should be free, or cost anything BUT if it is priced then $4.00 seems like a reasonable price for DLC. Or have it in an update and make it cost $4.00 to unlock. OR if you own like idk atleast 4 DLCs (Skin Packs, texture packs, or mashup packs) then it would be unlocked for free (NOT after already unlocking it you should NOT be refunded).
PLEASE post any thoughts below on what you tihnk of my idea. Thanks for reading. If anyone wants to create images for this idea feel free to post any below and please share this topic comment, like it or whatever so this will be added in. THANKS!
Sounds like the mix & match texture packs that I suggested a while back. I prefer is to mix and match, as you are basically mentioning. It is a way to utilize what we bought into making our own unique ones. Since all the people, multiplayer, would have to have at least the trial in order to see them. But for those wishing to make their own would have to own the mash-ups/texture packs in order to be able to save that custom pack.
So I actually do like the idea since it is roughly what I would be looking for. I love doing that on the pc version, as I like this and that out of each pack. Being able to mix & match means more customization, and that is what I am for.:D

This idea of course would be probably of more interest if there was more the two we have. That or some are I suppose just tired of discussing... Unsure.
Well i still like the idea, and know there are at least a few that would like it even though they have not posted in this one. They have in the past in the other oldest thread about creators. That was a discussion and a half for a bit. The only difference is that that one was primarily about a custom maker, and not a mix n match style.:D

Oh yeah I forgot to say it would probably be a good idea to be able to save a custom texture pack while your in someones game. Also a "recently" used texture pack list would be nice as well (with the preview image when hovering over the name). I think this "recent" list should go back as far as you set it in the options menu. Either forever, _months, _weeks, or _days. You should be able to fill in the number of days, etc....
probably not too far back, as it needs to recycle every so often. So probably the last 16 or 32 packs used depending on how much a bother it is.
Saving a pack from someone else's world should also follow the same rules as the primary idea; in which if you don't own a pack that the custom one uses you can not save it. If you do one it, then all is good. That would be a great feature especially if you like what mix n match pieces your friend uses in his custom pack.
I think though there should be slots, or external file it saves to. If not both. As in it should allow you to save as many as you can worlds. I really don't know if there is a limit there. hmm... well either way, there should be a separate file small enough to store the data to say which packs it is using and which textures are being used from those packs. I would imagine those files would be pretty small, as it would be sampling data, I guess is what it is called. Something like that. Basically an index file that will point to the necessary resources needed and pointers to what it uses within those resources.

Yes exactly! Although I am not sure how difficult it would be or how much hard drive space it would take if it saved all recent custom texture packs if you so choose to set this option as on.
Also I just wanted to revive my suggestion threads as most of them took a lot of thought and IMO are great additions into the game. So I will be bumping this thread and several other suggestion threads I have made for MC Xbox360. If this infringes on the forum rules (Which I am not sure if this is the case) feel free to remove this post (Not the thread please).
