Ok when the mash up pack came out i was very disappointed $5 For a horrible Texture pack , a world we're probably not going to use and skins The map and skins are alright its just the texture pack it is BAD but anyway i could care less about maps and skins the chicken in a suit is my official skin So why in the hell would i pay $5 for just a texture pack we can get for free on pc and dont say its hard to code it because its not at all Its just like on the pc the first guy to make texture packs just went in the games folder found the textures and edited them and its the same on the xbox they just change the textures its all pictures So it would be awesome if we can just get texture packs and not the map and skins
You just have to wait and give them some time to make some more decent ones. I don't expect them to make any decent mash up packs soon though. I see people on their twitter feeding them ideals like harry potter, my little ponies , skyrim, boderland, call of duty. Yuck!!!!
I just hope when they start making texture packs they follow the same path as the pc and slice the price in half.
Now that I know it is $5 Me buying that pack is extremely unlikely.
If it was 2-3 then I would.
It's $3.99, not $5. And it's essentially a texture pack + skin pack, with a few extra things thrown in (like the themed world). Future texture packs (without skins, world download, etc.)(which ARE coming by the way) will likely be much less.
And as for the fact they're charging us for texture packs, I have this to say:
The ONLY way that Microsoft will EVER allow us to have texture packs is if 4j Studios themselves provided the texture packs. Anything modded is out of the question, as that will go against the Terms of Service. And for 4j it's not as simple as "make the texture pack, put it out". There's a LOT of legal issues. As 4j said, packs that are on the PC like Dokucraft have many contributors, who I assume must each give permission for 4j to be legally allowed to use it. That takes a lot of time and effort.
They have to go through all this to give everyone what they want (texture packs), and then people start whining because they have to pay a couple of bucks for something that someone else made, just because a less restricted system exists on a less restrictive platform.
So why in the hell would i pay $5 for just a texture pack we can get for free on pc . . .
Because you're not playing on PC. You're playing on a console, a closed system with a different cost structure. Hardware investment is low. For PC gaming, hardware cost is high, but you get an open system with the possibility of upgrades. Console software almost always costs something, even for relatively minor additions, and games tend to be priced higher. PC software has many more free possibilities, and games can sink in price to low levels quickly.
You pay your money and you take your choice. If you want free and plentiful texture packs, play the PC version.
You really had to make another thread to whine about the Mash-up? You don't want it, then don't buy it. Wait for the next one. I, personally really like the new mash-up, and I think $3.99 was an appropriate price. If you want to use a texture pack for free, then go play the PC Edition. You're playing on Console, and Console =/= PC.
