I don't know if it's just my personal (bad) luck, but I doubt it. The thing I'm talking about is that often - in my case, almost always - when you create a new world, there are two outcomes.
Firstly, the world looks breathtaking with fantastic landscapes, all the biomes you want, and so on, yet there's not a single village. The other outcomes is a world with one or even multiple villages, yet the world itself is kinda meh; no real variety in biomes, the landscape looks rather bland, the overwhelming majority of the world is either a frozen wasteland, desert, or ocean, etc.
The solution to this problem would be if we could craft a village spawner in survival (and also have it in creative). Since villages are quite fun and - if future updates include even more features from the PC version like trading with villagers - they also are becoming increasingly important, why not allow us to create villages from scratch?
A village spawner should be a one-shot item, i.e. each one you craft can be used only once. And each spawner spawns only one villager. So if you want to populate a village - or repopulate it in case a zombie assault wiped them out - you'd need to craft at least two of them.
Now, since villages are going to become more useful and important, a villager spawner should require valuable resources like, for example, 1x diamond block, 2x gold block, 4x obsidian, 1x book case, and 1x cake (or whatever 4J Studios consider appropriate; this is just a quick example).
Likewise, a villager spawner only works if it's placed inside a house with a floor at least 5x5 (i.e. at least 7x7 including walls). When used, a single villager spawns adjacent to the spawner, and the spawner disappears. Since there are no "naturally created" houses with a 5x5 floor, this would mean that players would have to craft this house themselves; kind of like a "birth temple."
I don't know what the rest of the community thinks of this approach, but I think it would be the best solution to "oh no, no villages in my world" or "oh no, zombies killed all my villagers."

I guess they could try fix this issue..
But I'd rather just discover the world a bit, see what villages there are.. and go on with my day if I don't like it I'll try another world.
