Hey why don't people with the downloaded version get infinite maps it's a little unfair for us to have limited things and if you have smaller consoles then add the option in options or a way to buy it and then select on or off? Also it might bring in more $$$ eh eh?
Hard drive space isn't the issue. Memory space is the issue, and more important, the fact that the 360 has to load everything in memory at once; it can't swap part of it out to disc (aka virtual memory) the way a PC can. While there have been updates to components on and off over the past 8 years, the basic system architecture has stayed the same.
As for bringing in more money ... the people who want the PC version just go and buy the PC version. Which is why I now have two. (would it be really obsessive if I bought the PE for my tablet, too?)
I have a 250 gig console. I can start as many new worlds as I want. The issue is not hard drive space, it's RAM. I would rather start new worlds to play in with different groups of friends than try to make an "infinite" world cohesive and even remotely friendly. Having things spread out an inordinate distance is of no interest to me. I do not want infinite worlds that only 8 people can play in at a time. If they do have any spare processing power available, I would rather they increase the number of people who can play in a world at one time by a little bit and improve on multiplayer lag.
Hey if it were to be added friends would have more space to build in peace and you wouldn't have to worry about resources and trying to conserve them and never t really using them. Also we wouldn't't have to worry about no pumpkins or seeds at all.
Oh and one last thing if someone could make a game with infinite maps on ios wouldn't you think it would be possible on PE AND I said there could be on option to turn off infinite maps if people disagreed

You don't seem to understand that Hardrive space is not the issue.
Regardless, Microsoft has a policy that prohibits save files from being over a certain size. File sizes for the PC can get huge, some for popular youtubers are in excess of 7 gigs. Even if the memory of the 360 could handle it, there would never be infinite worlds for this simple fact alone.
The XBox 360 is an 8-year-old computer, and it wasn't a bleeding-edge gaming computer when it was new, back when a lot of today's Minecrafters were in elementary school. While some things have changed in the past eight years, such as hard drive space, it has been Microsoft's policy that if you buy a game for the XBox 360, it will run on whatever XBox 360 you happen to have. No need to read system specs; if it says "XBox 360" on the box, it will run on your XBox 360. You could have one you bought yesterday, or one you've had since they first came out, or anything in between, and any game that runs on the 360 must, to be certified by Microsoft, run on your 360, no matter how new or old it is.
The thing only has 512 meg of RAM, and it can't swap stuff out the way a PC can. Everything it's running has to be able to be loaded into RAM at once. Relevant to Minecraft, in the PC version, the game loads and unloads chunks as needed, so the ones around you are always loaded, but chunks further away (or ones you haven't seen yet) are out on disc until they're needed. The XBox can't do that. Its hardware is not capable of doing that. It is not possible for it to do that. That can't be done. Capiche? Every chunk on the map for the 360 must be able to be loaded at once. And there's only 512MB of memory to put it in. That's a pretty hard cap on how big a map can be.
Infinite maps are not possible. The 360's system architecture doesn't allow for them. It's simply not as flexible as the PC is, and it's tied to an 8-year-old spec that the PC has long surpassed. (would you buy a circa-2005 computer as a gaming machine today? I didn't think so). Yes, iOS can do things that the XBox can't do. It's built to do them. The XBox isn't.
So no matter how you ask, beg, plead, grovel, demand, or whine, and no matter how much 4J, Mojang, or Microsoft wants them, we're not going to get infinite maps. There are limits to what can be done with the XBox 360, and map size runs right into one of those limits. If something can't fit in 512 MB of memory (along, of course, with everything else that makes up Minecraft) then it can't be done. And infinite maps can't be done. It has nothing at all to do with what anyone (customers, developers, or anyone else) wants and everything to do with what the platform is capable of. It's not capable of that.

Aha that's where you are wrong. People can mod their Xbox without making the hardware better and can play the PC version.
POSSIBEL!!! If I wanted to, I could mod my xbox, probably installing an alternative operating system, you know, because no one wants to see frigging master chief drinking frigging mountain dew, and add something like linux or windows, and use that to run the PC version.

If you install a different operating system, it's no longer really an Xbox, isn't it. I don't care if it's possible or not anymore. I just don't want it. Having a finite world on the smallish side has it's advantages. As I said, I can start as many new worlds as I want, each with different themes and different rules in place to suit those themes, and I can play in those worlds with different groups of friends. We can actually have a hope of eventually finishing off themes and completing worlds. Infiniite worlds just go on and on and on and on and on and on.... BORING!

I hate to inform the misinformed but multiplayer worlds on the PC are not infinite either. It would put far too much stress on the server itself to maintain that 24/7. The largest server I ever played on had around 100 people on every day and was 15,000x15,000. That was big enough that I hardly ever saw anyone else the entire time I was playing.
As for the limited resources argument, there are enough resources in an Xbox 360 Edition world to last a full game of 8 people months (provided you aren't wasting it on useless things 24/7). There are around 16,000 diamonds alone in an Xbox 360 Edition world. 10x that for some of the other materials.
Even if the HDD size were the problem, that should never, ever, ever, ever restrict what someone can do in a game. That would be one of the most asinine things Microsoft could ever do. You should never get extra things just because you forked out more money than others for a larger hard drive in your console.
If they change the way the map loading work to how it works on the PC, ATM the whole 900x900 odd map is still there even though you can't see it in the render distance, everything is still going including animals and furnaces and redstone machines.
In the PC version all that stops, so you can have large maps without too much damage on the RAM, the level of optimisation on the Xbox is far greater which is probably why the PC version don't run so well with same specs.

I put my shirt on one leg at a time, just like everybody else.
There are games on the Xbox 360 and android that have infinite worlds, and therefore use the swapping in and out of chunks. Why can't minecraft use it?

i think you're just in love with this idea. The PC forums are filled with complaints about how poorly the game runs and how many lag issues they have. As MG pointed out, the largest PC servers don't actually use the infiniteness of the world and they serve to just ensure that players are left essentially playing solo anyways. Even though they are only using a small percentage of the world, things get so spread out, it's really annoying. Why must the Xbox version follow the PC version on this path which really has no advantage over what we have. As it is with a small world, a person can do up a hunger games type map and literally control the whole world or do up a variety of adventure maps that are cohesive and fun without worrying that someone someday is going to add something onto the outer limits of it that just won't fit the theme. I think we have it good the way it is and it's nice that there is a different option from what the PC offers.
This topic is insanity. The people who don't want it are posting the exact same frigging thing over and over again, and expecting us to stop wanting this. We know that with some work, this can work.
It's not a matter of people not wanting it. (I play both the XBox and PC versions, the latter of which has it) It's a matter of it being technically impossible, or at least highly impractical, on an (unhacked, since I seem to need to specify that) XBox 360. Nobody expects anyone to stop wanting it -- though I should point out, if you want a larger world, you can do exactly what I did and buy the PC version! (which, for some reason, has apparently caused some ad server to think I'm European, and now prices all my ads in Euros ... weird)
Nobody expects you to stop wanting something the platform can't deliver. Hey, I want to win Powerball! But with all the things we might be able to get, I think it's likely to be more productive to advocate for those instead.
