Not a suggestion as much as a request. PLEASE! remove creepers from easy mode, there is nothing easy about a creeper spawning behind you where you just looked and killing you in 1 hit AND blowing a gigantic crater in your land. and also may you please enable exhaustion and a way to get string and bone in peaceful. I dont like playing creative. it is boring..

Mobs are already easy enough in Easy mode, we don't need a "no creeper mode". Also, string is only for bows and fishing rods, which you don't need a bow in peaceful and you don't really need a fishing rod with all the other much more effective ways of getting food, and finally, bones are only for bone meal, which once you get a decent sized farm, you don't really need at all.
Creepers are all the fun! If you play on Easy mode then you have to accept the fact that you could be ruined by a Creeper.. It's happened to me plenty of times! Yeah it can be frustrating, but it's part of the game!
You can get string on peaceful, find an abandoned mineshaft and slice through cobwebs with a sword. That's what I do when not enough spiders are spawning and I need wool for a survival based map.
No. There may be a minor difference between the difficulties, but that is not the way to make it easier. That changes what makes the game. The creeper is the emblem of the game after all. I wouldn't mind if they just made it so on easy that there will be no terrain damage from creeper or griefing enderman. That is better left to the higher difficulties. After all there should be more to difficulty than damage and combat. Although that would probably be the thing that changes the most between the difficulties.
I don't see the point in obtaining certain things in peaceful. String can be used for wool as well as sheep. There is already a way to gain that, but all the hostile mob drops make more sense to stay in the higher difficulties. If you wanted some of that stuff you mind as well be using creative to give your self that or turn up the difficulty for a bit just to get this and that. Just the way I see things.:D

yes that's great. that is why there are HARDER modes. peaceful makes many items useless, like fishing, eating and planting crops. it also badly limits what you can do. like tame dogs due to there being no obtainable bones. the difference between peaceful and easy is tooooo vast. i know eating and having pets is pretty peaceful. but these are things that cant be done or have no use on peaceful. and also planting crops and hunting animals for their meat. if you like creepers great!!. you can play a harder difficulty. I never said remove the creepers. i said they are not easy. I like killing zombies ect. but the only thing creepers drop is gunpowder and exp, I disable TNT explosions on my maps anyway. i have no use for it. ALSO, what is the use of playing survival on flat? there are little to no resources. anyways. there needs to be something inbetween peaceful and easy, so the more casual players can enjoy the full game without being blown up randomly. upward vertical in water needs to be faster too. taking damage in water stops/reverses vertical movement. you could be 1 block from the surface with full health and it will still kill you.

use shears on sheep for wool, then when they eat grass it grows back and you can use it again. also use shears on cobwebs.

this is the way i play. but i would like to always have a use for food and a fishing rod. I hate creative mode as there is no pride in anything done for me cause nothing was earned. I accomplished all my achievements on the first couple days of playing I like the game, I just have no use for creepers on MY land
One reason I said what I said.... I would rather them modify existing difficulties... As I think of easy as Casual, however they are all pretty much the same... well except peaceful. And like I said it could be just modified so that creepers don't cause terrain damage on easy. Same with enderman....
Really we just need to make easy mode what it should be, without making it completely peaceful.
As far as the water thing, that is something I have reported a few times as a bug. I don't like the fact you don't even have a chance to survive flow water. Still water you can move up just fine, which is something they fix in one of the last updates, but flowing water is annoying... And like I said I have already mentioned that as a bug. I am sure it was not intended to make it impossible to survive water....:D

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
When I was a new player, I believed that a creeperless difficulty level would be a good thing. Creepers are one of the tougher mobs to handle in the game and they still give me much for difficulty than the many of the other mobs. However, I no longer think that having a mode with hostile mobs without the creeper would be a good idea. For an Easier Than Easy mode, I would instead really, really slow down the spawning rates of the hostile mobs and, as Tamorr suggested, have creeper explosions result in very little damage to land and structures. I would also keep their AI on the dumb side for this mode only (e.g. making it so hostile mobs will fall into holes more readily as they did back in 1.6.6 and not introduce the more advanced pathing behaviors expected for this mode).
In addiiton, to make peaceful mode more interesting, I would introduce hunger to that mode without introducing any of the hostile mobs to it.
Note: The issue with upward momentum while taking damage is water appears to have been fixed. I ran out of air the other day and was able to continue to swim to the surface while taking damage and did not die. I made surface with only 2 hearts left.
Note: I also note that when I'm playing in 4-player splitscreen mode but with online players in the world as well, more mobs seem to spawn around the host player than any of the others. As Guest(3) I had very few encounters with any mobs even wandering about the forest in complete darkness. When I later took over the hosts controller for a period, I seemed to instantly have far more hostile mobs to deal with. (Not sure, but this may be a bug.)
Find a skeleton spawner.
Build a skeleton trap.
Include a totally safe area for yourself.
Switch to Easy so the skeletons start to spawn.
Stand in your safe area and collect bones.
When you have enough bones, switch back to Peaceful.
Now go tame all the wolves you want.
Also, there are ways to avoid being blown up by creepers:
- lead them into water
- make yourself some armor
- put up fences to keep them away from your house
- be careful how you explore caves
(the time I thought I knew what was under me, and chopped out the block I was standing on ... and was wrong, as I discovered when I fell into a cave and landed on a creeper ... serves as a good example of what NOT to do; I survived due to #2 above)
Unenchanted iron armor is sufficient to survive a point-blank explosion from a creeper on Normal mode, so I suspect leather armor would work on Easy mode. (I'll try to remember to test this later today, just to be sure) That takes care of the personal damage. For structural damage issues, chop down some trees and build fences around your house, etc., or just build on a plateau. That will keep the creepers out. If you want the exp or drops, build a creeper trap, then stand out of range and shoot them (see above regarding skeleton trap to produce arrows).
By the way, a creeper can't spawn right behind you. Mobs don't spawn in close proximity to players, or in lighted areas. The creepers have to spawn elsewhere and run (creep?) up to you, so that gives you time to respond. If you don't go out at night (beds are handy for this) you don't have to worry about them on the surface. And caution in caves will help a lot there (or switch to Peaceful so you can run in and hang up torches, and maybe wall off areas you don't want to deal with).

Still water?
I've have died 3 times already from flowing water. Like example mine clay that is 1-3 blocks down... that would create 3 flowing blocks of water. once heart damage is going trying swimming up... For me it was not clay I was after but more like fixing a hole I made from underneath, that was patched there. However on the surface where the hole was I wanted to dirt it all in and have only 1 sand layer. 2x1 hole. contiuing to swim up after I was taking damage and could not make it to the surface that was like 5-6 blocks away... this was recent, some time after the tu11... happened 1 time before and a couple of times afterwards. the afterwards part would be that 2x1 hole and the before part was fixing another hole in the water.
So that bug is still there. One should at least have a chance to swim upwards, but in my case the damage while swimming up kept me from moving. Basically the damage would stop me from moving and since it is pretty quick when drowning starts... Well maybe not that quick, but the damage acted like knockback a bit. In this case it was knockdown in a way. So I could not get to the surface that was 3 more blocks away because the only still water was the surface block. If I was able to reach a still block then I would be able to rise at a good rate, but no that didn't happen.
I actually wouldn't mind if they added another mode, but still would be a bit pointless in my opinion as it right now has hardly a difference between the difficulties. Reason why I mentioned it would be better to modify the existing one to be so.
I do like your idea of that peaceful mode though...:D

I was mining on the ocean floor and not paying attention. I started to swim up but ran out of bubbles and started taking damage with quite a distance yet to go before breaking the surface. I expected to die because on previous occasions I just started sinking when the bubbles ran out, but this last time I was able to make the surface without dying. I'll try running some tests tonight to narrow it down a little.
I'm not that great at swimming up waterfalls. More often than not though my air level has nothing to do with it. I tend to drift out of the waterfall and fall back to the ground (and usually die from the fall damage).
After my first couple of *splat*s I gave up on waterfalls. I think I'm uncoordinated.
Safest way to mine clay, etc: build cofferdams. You build a dirt wall around the area you want to mine, fill it in with dirt, then remove the dirt, and you have a perfectly dry area inside your wall to mine in. This works nicely for anything you can reach the bottom of (and if it's deep, sand is your friend), and lets you mine without drowning issues.

Jynx sells a wonderful shirt (I bought one): "Creepers Gonna Creep". Haters gonna hate ... it's just how they are ... and creepers gonna creep, too; it's just how they are. Not that I don't want to do everything in my power to make their creepy little lives miserable (and short) -- I'm trying to figure out how to put a good creeper cramper outside my slime farm after I found a skeleton there ... somehow, he spawned in a high light level, and I'm worried a creeper might do likewise ... but they're what makes Minecraft, well, Minecraft , instead of just a virtual box of Legos.
Well the ocelots will repel creepers when we get them, and if you keep getting killed so easy from a creeper blast try wearing some armour, ive survived 2 blasts in a row numerous times with just iron.
Oceots arent in the game yet.
Anyways if anything they shouldnt explode so far away, today a creeper exploded about 15 blocks away from me.
I'll try running some tests tonight to narrow it down a little.
Just reporting back as promised - Indeed, swimming up when out of air still doesn't happen when the water is falling downward. It is possible to swim upward after running out of air if the water has no current... So, I guess the previous times I must have unfortunately been in parts of the ocean where there were downward currents and this last time I was lucky enough to be in still water. I'm not sure though that I really consider that to be a bug that needs fixing. They should leave a few ways a player can still die in this game while in peaceful mode.

There are lots of different ways to get an air supply under water... doors, water buckets, sugarcane, etc. and a Respiration helmut helps as well.
