We are getting jungles in TU12. Yipee! How about in a future update, a different kind of jungle could be added? Savage Jungles!
About Savage Jungles
Savage Jungles are like normal jungles, except they don't have ocelots or cocoa beans, and it's forever dark there except for a few spots. No normal mobs spawn here, but new mobs will be there only available in this biome! I'll get on to those later.
In small areas, sunlight pours onto the ground, but the jungle is usually dark. Now, to get on to some of the monsters.
New Mobs
Jungle Spider- These spiders only spawn in Savage Jungles. They are orange and black and are slightly larger than regular spiders. Also, they create gigantic webs. Jungle Spiders deal 1 heart more of damage than regular spiders, but move a little slower. They have 13 hearts of health. Jungle Spiders drop 0-2 string, 0-2 spider eyes, and can rarely drop a fermented spider eye!
Savage Snakes (or Mambas)- Savage Snakes are very large snakes that are 2 blocks long and go up to 1.5 blocks high in the front. They deal 2.5 hearts on easy, 3.5 on medium, and 4 on hard ,plus they could poison you like Cave Spiders do. They have 7 hearts of health. They drop 0-1 snake venom. A glass bottle can be combined with 7 snake venom to make a bottle of poison. You'll learn more about that later on.
Tribesmen- Tribesmen are evil cannibals that live in campsites, but can rarely be found wandering alone in the jungles. They carry machetes, which are a new weapon. Also, they could have a chance of carrying a bow, spear, or blow gun. They deal 3.5 damage on Easy, 4 on Medium, and 4.5 on hard. Because they are large in number in their camps, they have 8 hearts of health.
Jaguars- Different from the ocelots of the jungles, jaguars of the Savage Jungles are aggressive. They can be found along pathways or in the treetops. When in Savage Jungles, you must be cautious of these beasts. They have 8 hearts of health and deal 2.5 hearts of damage on Easy, 3 on Medium, and 4 on Hard. They drop 0-1 jaguar fur. Eight of it can be made into a pelt. You wear it as a shirt. It has no real use other than looking cool.
Piranhas- Beware the waters! In the rivers of a Savage Jungle, these fierce fish wait for you to come into their trap! Piranhas attack with incredible speed, dealing 1 hearts on easy, 1.5 on medium, and 2 on hard. They may be weak, but they attack in small groups. If you kill one, it will drop 0-1 raw fish.
Machetes and Other New Weapons
Machetes are dropped by Tribesmen on a rare occasion and can not be crafted. They deal 3.5 hearts of damage and can also give you vines, leaf blocks, and webs when you cut them. They also destroy them faster. Machetes may be weak, but they are useful for collecting the objects I just mentioned.
Blow Guns are also used by Tribesmen. They only shoot poison arrows/darts. A blow gun is crafted like this:
s / s
s p s
s s s
s- stick
p- poison arrow
/- blank
Blow Guns deal 1.5 hearts of damage, but poison for 3 seconds, dealing .5 per second. Poison happens 40% of the time.
Spears are a ranged weapon that deals 3 hearts of damage. They are crafted like this:
/ s /
s st s
/ st /
s- stone
st- stick
/- blank
If you use one once, it's gone, so you'll need more than one.
Savage Camps
Savages live in campsites that consist of 3-6 huts. The walls are made of jungle wood planks. The roofs are made of stone slabs. Each camp has 5-8 Savages around the area. In the center of the camp lies a Shrine. It is made of mossy cobblestone and has stairs leading up on every side. Torches are placed on top of stone pillars three blocks high next to the staircases. At the top of a Shrine, you will find a chest that consists of various items that can not be found anywhere else!
Loot From Shrine Chests
In Shrine Chests, you can find items that can not be found elsewhere. You could find a Tribal Mask! Tribal Masks, when you put them in the helmet slot for armor, makes you look like a Savage, so none of them will attack you unless you attack them! You also could find gold coins, which can be used to trade with the Tribesmen! You'll need the mask, though. Also, there are a few things that can be found somewhere else that you can get from the chests, like coal, cookies, a few arrows, and iron ingots.
Zombie Tribesmen and the Chief! (work in progress)
Poison Arrows
A bottle of poison, made from snake venom, can be used to make poison arrows. How does it work? You'll need to craft them using a bottle of poison and 6 arrows. That gives you 6 poison arrows. If you have both poison and regular arrows in your inventory, they will be shot in the following order. Poison, regular, regular, poison, regular, regular. If you run out of either of the types, the bow will just fire the arrows you have remaining.
The jaguars should drop animal pelt which would be used to trade with savages also. Maybe even to make a new armor type. I think piranhas should live in the water and when killed the drop raw fish. They do 1 heart on easy, 1.5 on normal, and 2 on hard.If you destroy a shrine the savages that you have killed(If any) will rise from the dead and attack you. There should also be a leader savage that does 1 more heart of damage on all difficulties.
I'd have two types of snakes: pythons with a melee attack (could they actually wrap around their target?) and venomous snakes, let's call them mambas, which would have a bite that does very little physical damage but causes a really nasty status effect (the venom) and, as described, drop venom, etc.
And yes, cheetahs are savannah animals (they need lots of open space for the high-speed running!). Leopards can be, too, though they have more options. Jaguars are essentially New World leopards. They're big and powerful, and make ocelots look like ocelittles.

I'll take your suggestions into consideration, but I don't think we need a new armor type.

I'll make the change. Thanks. I might name it something other than mamba.
The savages shouldn't be called savages they should be called tribesmen. And they should have bows and they should use poison arrows. Some should have spears. Poison darts(fired from blow-pipes) would be a good idea for them as well.
Sounds like a good idea.
Thank all three of you for your suggestions! I will try to add them.
To all who are asking why this isn't just added to regular jungles, some people might say OP, OP, OP! Plus, I like the idea of a darker, more deadly biome. Plus, jungles already have ocelots, cocoa beans, and temples.
