dlc seed packs would be packs that have 5 seeds to create epic worlds, and you could buy them and own the seeds. They would have pictures of the worlds, and names for each, but they wouldn't have the seed shown, you could buy them, put the seed codes in, and generate the epic worlds, because on the internet when I find seeds for the most awesome worlds they don't work, this would be assured that it would work.
Is that an EA sort of idea... I don't like the idea of pay to play.... At least that is what it comes off like. Seed generation is fickle at best but there are major differences when looking for seeds that are on both pc & xbox.
I don't understand what you mean by a seed not working. A seed is only 2 things in the game, 1 should be the obvious; something you plant to grow crops, and 2 a number that is put through a generation algorithm to create the layout of the world.
From my perspective seeds should be working, otherwise you wouldn't be able to play the game, since generation of a world is the primary aspect you must do first in order to play. Now if you are referencing that you looked up a seed and it did not appear the same way:
1. Make sure it was an xbox seed.
2. Make sure it is the correct version.
3. read up on that seed, if you can't seem to find much on either 1 or 2.
4. Just generate a random one from the begining or try your own. All you do is type in a value, which has to be 19-20 digits; otherwise it will be a random number, or input letter number combos.
the seed generation in my opinion is fine, of course you better find a map otherwise you will have possible trouble with the next update finding a seed.
Overall your suggestion makes no sense at all, if not would be inane to do. Yes it is my opinion.:D
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
All seeds work. That is, you can type anything into the seed string and the game will, if necessary, convert it to a number and use that number to generate terrain. I've never known the game to fail to generate a world and come back with a message like "I can't use this seed."
The seed lists are used to identify the numbers/seed strings that produce certain types of terrain. Since people share the seeds freely, they are also free of charge to use. If you don't get the terrain described on an Xbox seeds list, there are a few possible reasons why:
1) The poster who posted the seed typed the seed name into the post incorrectly (or just made a post to yank everyone's chain). It happens.
2) You typed the seed name into your Xbox incorrectly.
3) The seed described is for a different update version of the Xbox edition than you are in.
There are some minor inconsistencies in terrain generation that occur, usually depending on whether or not you generate that terrain in survival mode or in creative mode. Such inconsistencies usually just involve the location of chests; but I have also noted some differences in what gravel actually falls and/or floats and where precisely some waterfalls and lava falls flow.
Normally I support everyone ideals under the support section, but this is just straight stupid. I'm surprise BloodyPhoenix went easy on you with his comment, he must be feeling lazy, but you really should of thought this one more through. Pay for seeds that you can generate for free.(((Outrageous!!!!))) Don't even give them an ideal like that!
:shake fist at peterbread while blowing off steam:
Buying the seed number is a waste of money, but buying a pre-made world has a some value as an idea. I think in part this might be what the upcoming mash-up packs may have--worlds with pre-made structures around a theme of some sort. I'm thinking it would be sort of like what happens with the tutorial world now--the seed generates and the the tutorial world structures are overplayed on top of it all across the map. The big problem I see is that this is highly dependent on specific versions of the terrain generator--when ever something new is added to the worlds, the generated structures will no longer fit in correctly with their fixed location in the world
Stay fluffy~

That's me in the morning for ya!
I may become more hostile, though, if everyone keeps using coloured fonts like I do....
