Still worth bringing this back up and get half the discussion done with right away than having a whole new thread.
I didn't say anything about bringing it up again being a bad thing, did I? I was just amused to see how much my gameplay style had changed over the year. I no longer have "arrow problems."
ehhhh i dont really support flesh into leather... flesh doesnt nessisarly refer to skin, and skin is what you turn into leather. flesh is defined as the muscle and fat between skin and bone. when i think of fat, i often think of blubber. im not sure what the differnce is between the two, but blubber was commonly used to make, among other things, oils for lamps. thats something i could support. cook the flesh to make an oil for torches, or fuel sorces ingeneral?
incase anyone wants to say "thumbs down to making oil because all it does is act as a fuel source" i would point out that we can cook wood to make charchol for torches. so thats kind of the same thing. also it would add alittle balance as you would have to cook the flesh just to get the stuff to make the fuel. maybe it last only half as long as coal. this would make me wonder how to ballance it for torches, but i suppose we could create lamps with it, that have a lower light level. or it doesnt create four torches, maybe only one torch per flesh/oil.
i dont like the fertilizer idea... thats how zombie outbreaks start. though i could possibly see the idea of combining the flesh with the bone for the bone meal... though this is lower priority i suppose.
I like the idea of turning flesh into leather but with sugar maybe. And yes it can be usefull as a fertilizer, but not like bonemeal. You can see it like this 5 fertilizer is equal to 1 bone meal.
perhaps, fertilizer increases the rate at which "ticks" happen? im not sure if im using the right term, but basicly im saying, instead of bonemeals instantainious results, Fertilizer would just speed up the natural growth rate. i like that....

He nerfed bonemeal on the pc. Instead of insta-growing crops and saplings, itjust speeds up growth. One bonemeal makes trees grow 30% faster (Or something like that) and crops will grow a stage. It usually will take 3 bonemeal to grow something.
I am in agreement that the game should have an alternate source of leather, especially for those solid ocean biome (survival island) maps where cows just won't spawn.... no matter what you do. If you are lucky, you might have access to a couple of mooshrooms that you can breed for leather, but even that isn't guaranteed.
Cook it ... craft it... both, i don't really care, but since books require leather now and book shelves require books, and enchantment tables require bookshelves to be worthwhile in the long run... I think there should be an alternate source of leather other than cows (even if it is a pain).
I don't really care much about the oil idea either way, and similarly with the fertilizer idea, although they aren't bad ideas in themselves, there is usually other abundant sources of fuel and fertilizer available. (Unless you are really unfortunate and don't even have a single tree to get a sapling from in your world).

leather not needed, but Most island seeds to have mooshroom biomes for mushroom cows if you really want leather. I always just take 1 or 2 back to spawn island when I find one (im a big survival island person... I turned a tiny island into a full on town that expands 100 blocks in any direction , have a full on village with villagers, endermen farm, sky mob farm, an mushroom island turned into a decorative volcano, a massive farm, ships built on the water , multiple houses made by my friends , a chest full of arrows, bones, and flesh , a few stacks of tnt, enchanted diamond armor , and all this started from a surviva island seed with 1 mushroom biomes close to spawn, a few others scattered around , and 1 tree on the whole mapand mushroom cows give a good infinite food source until you can get a good carrot farm going. (milk em with a bowl for stew)
and my man made village is big enough to spawn iron golemsand the original island was only about maybe 10x10 or less in size , and oddly shaped . like a penisula shaped island , and the longest part was maybe 10 or 15 blocks, so it was more lile 15x9 to start with ... now i expanded it with dirt found on mushroom islands and underground so much i cant even count its dimensions

Ok, so we've narrowed down the uses of rotten flesh: Leather, fertalizer or fuel.
Which would you rather see? We could make a poll. Should I make another topic, or can we edit this one to add a poll?
Why does it have to be either/or exclusively? Potentially, it could be all three, or any two, or none of the above for options, as well as something new. I don't think a poll would be that worthwhile, IMO, but I generally don't use them myself.
Typically, new topics should NOT be made if the topic is already established in another thread, this is against forum rules and could get the new thread locked.

Perhaps have one flesh be equivalent to a piece of wooden plank?
