Ill try my hand at pitching a suggestion. Obsidian windows! Obsidian is actually volcanic glass so why not? The recipe would be the same as glass panes but would sport a much higher blast rating as well as a smoky tinted look.
You wont be able to see out of it because Obsidian is a naturally occurring volcanic glass formed as an extrusiveigneous rock, meaning it looks like glass but its a rock.

I'd say.. this and more than just anything. Maybe... Glass when combined with dye's in the crafting table can create different coloured glass, or perhaps when combined with a painting, it will give off a sort of picture window, similar to the ones you see in Churches.

You could always use iron bars or a half slab in the window space leaving a half slab sized gap.
