I dunno, I feel that the world of Minecraft on all platforms, is just plain and simple, barren. There is not enough stuff generating in our worlds. All I see is the same generation over and over again. Floating islands is the coolest thing we have and they aren't even meant to be there. A long time ago, they stepped in the right direction with villages, mineshafts, and strongholds. Their problem was the villages are the only things that generate on the surface. Maybe it would be cool if while you are exploring the infinite world on Xbox One edition, you randomly come across ruins of a castle or something like that that is partially moss stone and has chests. maybe ruins of forts with weapons in the chests. They should not minimize the size of the structures on the infinite worlds. Make the castle ruins huge. You have an infinite world anyways. There should be castles with one king, one queen, and bodyguards, and they should look like actual people. If you attack the king or the queen, they have a ton of health and you will anger the bodyguards, which deal a ton of damage. Walled cities would be nice. Beaches that are scaled to be the size they would be in real life, overgrown buildings made of moss stone and covered with vines, overgrown jungle villages with vines, and boulders. Giant masses of stone that are way bigger than players. Things in them like arches, other things like volcanic necks, really steep sides, flat top, generate a lot in deserts to make them less barren, and sometimes in forests, crescent islands with hidden treasures and volcanoes on them, huge oceans, volcanic islands, just huge islands with volcanoes on them, rocky islands, mountainous islands, oceans big enough that it would take multiple days to get from a continent to a crescent island, I would live on a crescent island, and only let my moderators know where it is. kettle lakes, water-filled calderas, staff, you might be looking at this and thinking that it is a wishlist, but these things all have something in common. They were all there before the player was there. I dunno, I just want the world to be less barren. I felt the game would be more fun if the fun things about the world gen was not floating islands and overhangs. The world is way too barren with what we have now. Obviously they would have to spread these things out a lot so you could build cities on your own.
There have to be some structures that are inhabited with people other than squidwards. Maybe a castle with a walled city near it that also has steve looking people, maybe a city watch, and if you attack a regular person, the city watch gets mad and all come at you. These people should not breed, just respawn when the population gets low. I like the idea with the pyramid being scaled up from PC's because why not make them huge? the world is infinite and they have double height limit.
I was thinking something else. How about they make up names of ruins, and for every name, there is four structures. Three relics and the ruin itself. They would be spread out though. Make it so you will most likely find one of the relics first. The relics would be small, not much bigger than steve. They should generate in a new structure called glades. If you right trigger on the relic, it will add the locations of the three relics and the ruins onto your map. Now the thing with the map, they should add a tenth space in the hot bar with the atlas permanently there. You still have the same space before, but you have the atlas with you. The atlas, no matter how you die, you should always have an atlas. You should not lose it when you die. The atlas would be a multi page book, the first page showing what the PC's map shows, the second, the area that is half the size what we have now, the third, an area the size we see now, the fourth, an area of nine of what we have now, and one that is like five of what we have now by five. That would be the best one to find the relic location. I hope they add this, because with the infinite world on PC, the maps show so little, there is no point in them being there. I want maps of an infinite world that show a lot.The ruins would be loaded with spawners and treasure. Maybe spawners that spawn different zombies and skeletons that are better than the regular ones and made to protect the relic.
shipwrecks with buried treasure inside, make the oceans more useful with loot that cannot be found anywhere else. rocky mountains with no trees on them that are steeper, pyramids, tombs, temples with traps, tombs buried in desert cliff walls, Colosseum ruins, labyrinths, shipwrecks that are close to beach biomes, but that would make them far from the oceans, gorges with bridges that are way wider than ravines, have rivers in them, make more strongholds but only three of them have portals and the ender eyes follow the portal not the stronghold, statues, abandoned harbors, yeah, stuff like that.
If YOU build it, they will come. I thought a big part of the purpose of this game was to build all this great stuff for yourself using your own imagination. A blank canvas IS supposed to be barren... until you draw on it.
Having the game generate such elaborate structures as you describe just says to me that what you really want to do is just wander about an elaborate scene, loot chests and kill off NPCs.... in which case, may I suggest COD or any one of a myriad of other FPS games out there.
First off, survival is not meant for creation. They might as well not added survival mode if the world is meant for creation and blank. Survival is meant for creating an empire. If you haven't noticed, it is helpful when you come across a village to add to your empire. If you are allergic to generated structures, we already have a setting that shuts them off. Also, COD sucks it is too linear, the graphics suck, and it isn't realistic, and the list goes on, and there are no fps games where you raid strongholds other than far cry 3 and you can't build in RPG games. The world is barren though. The same generation over and over again. If you want the blank canvas, just generate a superflat world. The ruins would help add landmarks to your map. "Go to the tree with the funny top and you will see it!
"I can see five funny topped trees from here! Which one? they look the same to me!"

You said it yourself: "Survival is meant for CREATING an empire." "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep,.." This is, of course, as quote from Genesis I... but let's compare the End poem to that: ``This player dreamed of sunlight and trees. Of fire and water. It dreamed it created. And it dreamed it destroyed. It dreamed it hunted, and was hunted. It dreamed of shelter.``
Your suggestion seems to me more about having an empire handed to you by the game.
god didn't make the earth and heaven out of cube meter-sized blocks, did he Also, not really handed to you, because these structures would have spawners in them so you have to liberate them first, just like you have to with strongholds and dungeons. Plus, the fact that a lot of it is ruins means a lot of incomplete rooms that wouldn't protect you. So yes in a way, but also no.They would also be far apart, so it is not an empire if you have to sprint through the dark woods at night to get from structure to structure.
Maybe have sunken city's caves with cave bears and like tribes with tribal npc's huge tunnels that lead to under the ocean or to several under ground catacombs
I like the sunken city idea. Make it in the ocean too. Those should be loaded with treasure though due to their hard to reach location. Maybe zombie pirates that spawn down there.
Or pirate squids!! Haha jk but ya pirate zombies sounds good maybe add a sea boss like Neptune if you kill him you get his trident but you would need some kind of potion to breath under water
I have an idea. To get the structures to generate in the ocean, it would have to be really deep, like almost bedrock deep. There should be ocean biomes and deep sea biomes. Deep sea is always surrounded by ocean and there is a drop off.
That's a good idea there should be abandoned city's that spawn in shallow swamp water and the should be all broken and full of moss and vines but not to big of a cityI hope they put some of these ideas on the xbox one edition and
Maybe a couple of them on the 360

You can't build structures in Skyrim unless you have the Hearthfire DLC, and even then, you're limited to what you can build and where you can build it.

WIP 128x 64x, SEUS support, Mod support in the pipeline TEKKIT, FTB, the more support the more mods!

No, he didn't... but I was really referring to all the human empires built on earth AFTER God's initial creation... all are rooted from the very beginnings when humanity first discovered fire, devised ways to hunt and then to farm and dreamt of shelter. That the game inserts these thoughts directly into it's End Poem indicates that Survival is about these basic beginnings and the dreams that arise out of them.
Your suggestions are good build themes for players to add into those "barren" maps. IF the game does not generate them, I can create/craft my empire in accordance with my own dreams and vision while still fighting off the mobs and "surviving" in the game... I can make my own pirate island or model it after the real historical pirate haunts if I so wish. Almost all the blocks availabe in creative are available in survival... you just need enough patience to play the game long enough to collect those materials legitimately in Survival.
That you tend to limit your vision as to what you will want to build yourself to just "cities." is evident in your initial post - "Obviously they would have to spread these things out a lot so you could build cities on your own." ... and to reduce survival to just running through the woods to get to the various ruins on the map and raid chests seems rather limiting in imagination as well. You mention that COD is "too linear" - Have you ever considered that adding more prebuilt structures into Minecraft would have the effect of making it more "linear" as well?... I.E. More and more people would just tend to follow the pre-conceived design of their seeds rather than use their own imagination to create their own style of empire.
The one part of your suggestion I do like is the idea of being able to populate your creations with different sorts of villagers. Perhaps "villager packages" based on different themes could be made availabe as DLC.
Minecraft is post apocalyptic if you couldn't tell. There are zombies and undead everywhere, you are the only person, excuse me, the only smart person left, would give a perfect reason to have all these structures that are abandoned in the world. They were built by people before they were wiped out by the apocalypse, leaving the structures to crumble. Even though, there should be some walled cities with smart people in them. Walled as in keeps undead out. Big giant almost unbreakable city gates. A fame infamy system with the remaining cities, there is already some sort of fame system with villagers we will get from PC, but instead of losing fame, you should gain infamy. the people would like you if your fame was higher than your infamy.Works with towns individually, rather than they all have the same infamy and fame for you.

Minecraft is post-apolyptic IF that's what you choose to make it to be. Skeletons exist in our pre-apolyptic world and whether or not zombies will ever actually exist in a post-apolyptic world and the skeletons will walk around is just popular fiction/conjecture... It was something once dreamt up by a fiction author in ages past that the people of the day liked and that more recent works of fiction have capitalized on. As I said, having all of this generated by the game will make it more linear (which is your complaint about COD). If you put more of a storyline right into the game, people will be less inclined to devise their own storyline for the game and less able to come up with a different one than the one you present. I like a blank canvas to be somewhat "barren" and, therefore, more open-ended as to the storyline that I might construct out my own imagination. If you want to built all these structures into your own world, you've certainly already been given the tools in the game to do it.
