PigMiner is right. Why do we have to deal with stupid stuff like this? You can put beds on glass just you have to put it on something else then replace that something with glass. It is still stupid we have to deal with crap like this. I would always have torches on glass blocks. It would make lighting a glass house a lot easier. Still, I dunno why you are complaining about the slab thing.
Cause I was trying to create a cool pattern of different slabs with a wall of that pattern but couldn't. I don't just make suggestions for no reason. I see the bed thing as being sort of unnecessary sure but just at the time of trying to put one down just meant I had to destroy blocks on survival. Just the situation was a bit frustrating at the time.
Not necessarily... Basically all you have to do is have a way to determine bottom and top 50% of a block space. The ID would be the block that is the slab. Although the way it is now, if I am correct; they are not saved that way. Each block space is saved as individual blocks and not half of this and that. Simple yes, but quite complex in a way to program in or rather reprogram the way slabs are saved in game. If not the rendering. No need for new ideas, just a way to do more than only a whole block space. Or something like that.
As with most of the stuff that the OP mentioned; I am not truly bothered by any of them. Although some of those would be nice to have if don't well enough to not create too many glitches or bugs in other areas of the program. And since the method I mentioned is tied to how blocks render and are saved as individual blocks then that would touch that part of the program which is essentially the whole game... I think...
The one thing I would love to be able to do is put torches on the back of stairs, and I could see that as a possibility over the mix n match slabs. Well a lot less complex to program in compared to that. The fence one would be nice, however they have to have a fence attribute added I am guessing. Of course that is how I thought it was done.. Maybe every thing was programed individually... After all the nether fence is in a way a retexture of regular fence.
I don't see the point in putting torches on glass... especially when you could just use other blocks below or spill lava over it in order to light it. Torches are not exactly the greatest look having all over the place, especially if you are a builder like me. I can't wait till the lamps are in the game, that will come quite useful very quickly...
I see your points. I think it's sort of stupid that everything needs to take up a whole block of space even if they take up only like... a 5th of a block such as a sign.
I just think this game needs as many options for gameplay as possible. Even if they seem like "stupid" options cause.. somebody somewhere would make use of all of them.
Many of these suggestions are likely just not feasible from a coding standpoint. Everything in the game is a whole block; annoying as it might be, I really doubt this will EVER change. Consider how many individual blocks the game has to have loaded at any given moment; you start trying to put more than one thing in a block, and that will go through the roof. Even just mixing two slab types is going to create huge problems because you would basically have to double the amount of information the game has loaded at any time; considering the vast majority of "blocks" will still have a single item, this is a HUGE amount of memory overhead for negligible improvement in gameplay. And don't forget, the Xbox 360 has a measly 512MB of memory - this is TINY compared to modern computers, and I'm not even talking optimized gaming rigs. Seriously, I'm not even sure how many current operating systems can effectively operate in that much memory (probably just Linux and other *NIX variants).
However, torches on the back of stairs? It's in the PC version, so there's a good chance that one will be coming eventually. But torches/beds (non-solid blocks) on glass (another non-solid block) will probably never happen . . .

Well if it ended up taking 1-2 gigabytes on my xbox... then I don't care long as it has better gameplay. Most people have 250 gig hard drives any how.
I bought myself a 320 and still have 270 left. Space definitely isn't an issue for most gamers I think since most probably got the 250 gig 360.
I dunno I just think there's way too many mundane things you cannot do in this game for no apparent reason.
One that really gets me is... Why can't we put cactuses beside eachother? It drives me crazy why we can't do that.

Far as the slabs thing.. I was just saying that for just slaps really. Mind you.. I wouldn't mind being able to put things beside eachother in some ways..
Example is.. say you make a small table and you have two stairs cornering eachother. Well you can't put two signs on the side of the stairs to make them look like chairs because you can't have more than one sign within the same block vicinity..

Hard drive space isn't the issue. The Xbox 360 only has 512MB of RAM. Only a part of that is used for games while the rest is used for the system. Mojang recommends that you have a minimum of at least 4GB of RAM for the PC version. That is a massive downgrade in memory size. The Xbox 360 Edition is running on severely limited hardware that is nearly a decade old.
For comparison, try playing PC Minecraft on a 10 year old PC.

Already ahead of you i get about 15FPS on skyblock on tiny render

Now that was intentionally programed like that... This makes it quite easy to make a farm out of... even an automated one. I guess the reasoning is that even if placed with 1 space in between you have chance to get damaged from walking through. I really don't know the reason, but I actually like it the way it is. I like making a lot of different farms and buildings... If they were placeable next to each other then I would have to wonder how you would be able to farm them. I do know a way even with that, which is a similar one done with warts...Besides why would you want them next to each other...
A wall all you would have to do is stagger them like a checker board stagger... Most of my walls that I build are a lot thicker than that... and that is not using cactus.

Oh I know that it is.. that's just one of the things that I don't like.. I mean.. I hate to argue real life but.. I see cacti beside eachother all the time in pictures. I know that you need to checkerboard it.. But, in times like... I often like to put cacti along the sides of rail that I put through deserts where I don't want mobs being in the way. I mean I could just yeah put it above etc, but I dunno... every once in a while I just don't think about that. lol
rails through desert... hmm... half slabs above rails would be better to keep mobs off at least in the straitways. Unsure if can be done up hills, but I don't see why not. I believe those are the touchy areas anyway...><
Would be nice though, but I wouldn't want it to destroy its current harvestable function. In a way I can see how they could do it... having a check instead of just 1 block touching, it checks if 3+ blocks touch it adjacently and that would case it to break. this would be side by side cactus but still be able to harvest as long as there are more than 2 adjacent points touching another block. Eh either way, the only thing I would like of that is decoration really...lol
