Obsidian equipment could have the same strength or mining capabilities as iron but more durability. Sorry if this was already posted i just went to the last page

Mojang doesn't do xbox edition. 4J does. I have a feeling that if 4J are open to ideas unlike mojang, minecraft xbox one will be better than vanilla PC. Still though, keyword: vanilla.

Obsidian is plentiful and renewable, but when mining it, there is a huge risk of falling in lava. Blaze rods are hard to get. Blazes are extremely hostile and extremely dangerous. There is not enough reason in having them. They are fuel and way into end, but those are only two reasons. A budder pickaxe would be way easier to get in this situation. Maybe be the opposite of budder in the way that it has a ton of durability, but slowest mining speeds, like takes a while to mine diamond ore. It should be instant while mining obsidian though.

Well From what I hear obsidian in real life is very brittle, of course it is a game though. Still I don't see the point in another tier of weapons and armor. I guess I wouldn't mind them implementing it I just wouldn't use it, still I'd rather see other features.

Obsidian is stronger than steel, but it is brittle. It was used for tools by the people who once inhabited Mexico. In fact, it replaced their bronze age.

Hmm you learn something new everyday, thanks. Like I said earlier I see no point in another tier of weapons and armor.

Where did you get the idea that obsidian is renewable? You can't create lava source blocks like you can with water which means in a limited world eventually you will run out of lava even in the nether. You can create obsidian generators but at the loss of redstone which again is a nonrenewable resource at least for the 360. I do like the idea of having obsidian tools but it is far too easy to obtain. Maybe if it was an auto super pick able to mine like an eff IV diamond shovel on dirt but could only mine stone and coal like the gold pick, but i do think diamond should keep it's current status as the ultimate pickaxe...able to mine anything...

There is a much easier way to do it. Have someone in the nether and the other one in the overworld. The guy in the overworld floods the portal so when the nether guy comes back, it creates a new portal and the old frame.

I forgot about the nether reset but that still seems like a lot of lost work just to gain more obsidian which i highly doubt you would ever run out of anyway and i was thinking more along the lines of solo and multiplayer. That way would work even though you would only gain 10 obsidian at a time and not everyone is able to play multiplayer.

Actually you get fourteen at a time. With a efficient y four pick,it is not a pain in the butt.

The real question is, why not have obsidian tools? If it would be possible to make it in real life and its easily implemented why not?
There SHOULD be more tool/weapon tiers and there should also be more ores because right now theres not many ores, It would be quite fun if there was alot more ores because theres more to find.

yes because if it takes 15 seconds to mine it should definetly have the durability of a gold pickaxe

I don't think it has to be better then diamond tho. What if it had the same mining abilities as a gold pickaxe just last longer and mines way faster. Gold can only really mine cobble, stone, and coal. If the obsidian pickaxe could mine these things at the speed of an eff IV diamond shovel on dirt without being enchanted it would serve as a great tool for clearing large spaces with ease while still making diamonds the best overall pick.
