I think it would be really cool to have more exculsive things on Xbox. The only exclusive item on the Xbox is the Ender Acid that the Ender Dragon uses. I've been looking around for some Mods for PC and i've found a few for 1.5.1, but since you cant get mods on Xbox, it would be pretty awesome.
And the exclusive music, and the iron bars around the crystals, I will stop naming exclusives there.
There is a way to renew obsidian, you just need to know how. I will let my secret out. You have two people. One in the nether, one in the overworld. The player in the overworld, let's call him player one, and the guy in the nether, lets call him steve. Player one floods the portal, steve returns to the overworld, now, what's this? There is now a whole new portal, and the old frame! Keep repeating, and you will renew obsidian. Thank you Player 1 and steve for volunteering.

Heh... good story, also you could make a obsidian generator that only uses 1 lava and lasts forever but you need other things that arent renewable.
technically its not a renewable resource since you need lava to make it... and lava is not renewable. you cant make an infinte lava source... yet...
It is. Just bring a bunch of buckets to the nether - where a lot of lava flows - and bring a bunch home.
And I'm not much of a fan of an official advent of obsidian equipment. I'd rather see a meteorite tiers of weapons (only). Meteorite would be much rarer than diamond as well be a bit more durable. It'd also have a better enchant value than diamond.
I broke my diamond pick, and I wish that we had obsidian tools. I would not care about the loss of an obsidian tool.
I used to care greatly about loosing diamond equipment.
But if you systematically mine like I have taught myself to you pull off ten diamonds in less than an hour without fortune enchantments.
Making your own tunnels is the way to go, caves are a good way to expose very little and spawn hostile mobs.

I put my shirt on one leg at a time, just like everybody else.
Well do you see people walking around with pickaxes made of diamond? I don't frigging think so! I would rather have an obsidian sword than a diamond sword. Obsidian is glassy and sharp. Diamond is hard.

No, but I see diamond used a lot more in heavy machinery than obsidian due to its sharpness and durability.
And almost everyone I see online uses Diamond picks. IRL, I've seen neither.
In mine craft, obsidian is harder than diamond blocks. There are also obsidian arrow heads in real life. Maybe make something that you get from smelting obsidian and that is the thing that is best, like some mysterious crystal.

You keep trying to put real life examples to a video game. In said video game, you can makeblocks float, you can make an infinite water source. Your examples don't work because they have no relevance. Obsidian tools would be completely OP, no matter how many ways you try to go about it. Plus, we don't need another tier of weapons/armor.

The good people, they always die. And the bad people do too...But the weaker people, the people like me, WE have inherited the Earth. -Morgan Jones

In my thinking diamond is very strong and can be taken to a finer sharpness then stay at there longer than other weaker materials.
Obsidian IRL isn't that strong, it would chip and become very blunt very fast.
If something were to be better than diamond it should be graphene which has 3 bonds on every carbon atom opposed to diamonds 2.
It's structure is a microscopic hex which basically making it two dimensional.
Can be made with graphite and sticky tape at home

Carbon nanotubes?
They are also very strong and form a tube with tripe bonds.
There's also Bucky balls wich are tiny balls formed from carbon with three bonds on each atom forming a perfect hollow ball.
Carbon is a wonder element to be honest.
It is said that a triangle is the strongest shape in nature could the same be said for future the molecular level.
I'm not sure how many other carbon atoms a single one can be attached to anyway.
I expect indestructible and completely flexible cellphones within the next 20 years, bullet proof clothing, TV paper and etc.
Oh yeah the topic
Can't say I would use obsidian stuff.
Not to mention I hate obsidians colour and look in general.

It's not like there's a shortage of iron. It shouldn't be a big deal. It's not "wasting" if it's going towards a good use.
