it'd be nice if we could just have redstone go up along walls vertically instead of having to find these complicated interconnected ways of using redstone (which I commend those who know what to do entirely) to make things like self-repairing bridges and such, or certain kinds of doors.
Could even be like... A new way of lighting up a room if you could put it along walls.
Could be a good ideal, though I think that would make redstone complicated. Redstone actually easy to use as it is now once you figure out the basic stuff that goes along with it redstone tourches, repeaters...etc.
hmm... well seeing as it will still be cut off from a diagonal block this would still be a good idea. Really all they would have to do is make it so that the dust can be placed on the wall 2+ off the ground and the dust will orient itself accordingly to wether you place it on the ground in front of the wall or just on that bottom block of the wall. Of course repeaters would work the same, since they just direct power to a block when pointed to it. If you lead a trail on the ground upto the wall dust then that bottom piece will orient to show it is connected to the wall like when you stair step redstone upwards...
Simple yes, but the coding might be tricky if not careful. Anyway it seems like an interesting idea to add to the redstone mechanics, just unsure if it will contribute to lag as some complex devices due. Either way I don't think it would add much hiccups, as all it really is dealing with is the redstone dust itself.
Feasible and interesting idea, even if mentioned before, it still stands to be at least decent.:D

Well.... it would certainly take away the complexities of placing redstone torches all weird too....
But... when you place dust along one block to either one block above or below from a stepping point... the redstone connects on the side so it can reach both blocks.
I can't see why that middle ground can't be applied to all blocks really.
I think redstone should stay as it is with being placed flat. being able to put redstone directly on walls would make it messy (in my opinion, to easy)
When people make projects out of redstone, they tend to hide the redstone trails.
Plus when you want redstone currents to go vertical, you just use redstone torches and stack them to the height you want.
You could.. But they seem to cancel eachother out... and unless you have an additional current to offset those torches.. none of what you wnat to work will work...
Besides.. even if you could.. It's not really much different to hide than any other redstone stuff. Just keep the current behavior of redstone, and add this as an addition to assist with.
Could even be like... A new way of lighting up a room if you could put it along walls.
thanks
