Rotten flesh is really cool. It's almost free and restores a quite bit of hunger. The hunger effect doesn't even reduce enough hunger points, the rotten flesh refreshes enough. Also, making leather out of it wouldn't make sense because leather and rotten flesh don't have similarities either. It's like the "Craft 4 iron ingots to receive a diamond" suggestion there was somewhere earlier, it'd just give players an advantage that would make the game much easier.
I know rotten flesh has uses, I just don't use it. Instead of having it pile up I destroy every piece I get. I just wish we could turn it into something more useful. If and when they change the recipe for books to require leather this would be a great option. I thought of this idea because to me rotten flesh looks like leather that needs to be tanned or something.

We could have rotten flesh leather which isn't as good as normal leather but could be upgraded or something.
