What is tech in minecraft?
The redstone, repeaters and pistons?
Everything else
Zombies, creepers, skeletons, giant spiders, golems.
Enchanting, brewing, end, nether
This and more... Sure some of the ore can be considered tech, but more like used in some of the tech... Enchanting and Potions take up quite a bit of Fantasy & Magic. Sheep instantly growing wool back after eating once, Trees that grow into a full growth in an instant; bonemeal.., They fact that monsters disappear leaving only a drop or so, every thing is a block, It rains in all but two biome times almost all the time (no variance between biomes, although that would be nice to see), Darkness creates monsters, light creates animals all in an instant; not from a baby (The only baby you ever see is when you breed), Breeding is so simple it is instant (at least there are baby ones due to that), spawners spawn monsters instantly (I can't see how this is tech, but can see similarity), boats explode at the moment when you barely touch something, Beds explode in the nether....
The list can go on and on... An my imagination boosts that 100 fold... but this is how I see it all...lol
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
i think everyone is against this idea. essentially what your suggesting would boil down to a texture pack that would take away from the games overall aesthetics . we already have tools we don't really need power tools and they would never make a tool that would never break.. if your playing survival the point is to have to work to keep items in stock otherwise just play creative.
we have magic tools. which would really be better than power tools anyway... cutting through a tree with one swing. can you do it.... Abe Lincoln can, but that's beside the point.. and it takes chainsaws quite a while to cut through trees.
though if we take the basic idea. and minecraft it up a bit we may actually have something useful.
a mountable saw blade. circular similar to old saw mill blade. that can be mounted on other blocks.
this could be used to make an automatic tree farm or even be part of a mob grinder. maybe have an air hammer that can break any stone type block. so you could build an auto mining vehicle. stuff like that.and the game is way more fantasy than tech... the tech its self could be considered fantasy.. like me and nose job were discussing. redstone is magic.. it powers things like electricity.. but its more like magic. or alchemy. and the pistons look kind of steam punk which is also fantasy. so tech in this game is a drop of water in an overflowing ocean of fantasy.

I loved using things like those on pc mods. They were so much fun to build auto collecting things with them. Another one was a half slab set of spikes that hurt mobs when they came near. Great way to take care of that pesky creeper at the front door. Just surround the foundations of your house with them and there no more peeping mobs.
I think minecraft should keep going in the fantasy direction because if you play long enough with these "power tools" it will become over-powered and it will take most of the joy out of playing the game. (Just like what eventualy happens to Tekkit, Yogcraft, etc.) I think they would be a very cool edition to the game but enough of playing with them would start to turn the game dull and boring.
