I use a lot of lilies in farms and decorations in my worlds, but playing survival there might only be a few in a given world. What do you guys think of making a flower that grows pads off of it? Something like vines but on water.Give it 3-4 growing stages before growing any pads. Maybe limit how many pads can grow at a time, like 2-3 in any direction off the plant. There could be one of 3 options for it. Found already growing in the wild, craft a bulb with maybe a flower+pad+seed/cane/??, or bulb found in a chest. And make so if you harvest the flower, you get 2-3 bulbs.

This method would allow TU6 or "empty" worlds to have them.
2.) They grow similarly to mushrooms with the exception of the light level needed.
This would allow more to grow, but not a stupidly large number of them.

I actually like both those methods.... maybe a combination of the two. Where as the growth rate is reduced like mushrooms and can only grow a certain amount within each other like mushrooms. That way they will still grow randomly and not over take a swamp in a mater of hours.... Also on the spawn thing it could have a check before spawning if where it is spawning, or going to be placed by the game there are already pads there then it will forego the chance spawn for the day...
would be nice to actually grow them as well, but I think this would be more logically similar to vines, but with more restrictions.

Those are great ideas. I like those. I would like a way to farm them myself though. Come next update, pads are the only plant you can't farm.

Good points. I really wouldn't want pads to grow like vines off themselves. Could make it tricky to keep water flows in fountains if they over grew themselves. Vines on castles and bridges are a little bit of a pain to control right now. Kinda wish they would put a cap on how long they grew. (at least in open air)

Good points. I really wouldn't want pads to grow like vines off themselves. Could make it tricky to keep water flows in fountains if they over grew themselves.
