Well, I have a pretty good idea. I think boats, as it is, are pretty bland and boring. What if you could craft a boat with other adjustments to it. Lets say a flag. In the middle of the boat it has a fencepost with red wool or something that looks like a flag. It could make your boat go faster. Better yet, they could a speed engine on the back (craftable with coal and iron + boat). And the last thing, for crafting the boat they can simply put the up or down arrow (on top or bottom) of the boat. So you could craft all 3.

Boats are quite speedy as is, and an engine would be too modern for the game.
The flag idea is okay, but I wouldn't care either way....

with as buggy as the boats are at the moment.... hmm.. Actually I just flat out don't like most of that. I would said I like the flag part but the only thing I like about that part is the flag itself. Everything else about speed on a boat, I just don't see the point when the boat goes at a decent rate. Also boats are prone to kill you anyway if you hit anything... whether going fast or slow, this includes squid....

I'd rather have an iron boat that doesn't break unless you break it. Like a minecart.
