I was talking to my friend and thought wooden armor would be a good armor type. It would protect from arrows, and resist swords. It should be more protective than leather, but not last as long. It should be craftable so birch armor, spruce armor, oak armor, and each with their own charachteristics. Would be more realistic that cobble armor. Wood is carvable. Arrows stick in wood, try shooting a tree. The same would work with wooden armor. People would say, wood is stiff though. It would be more comfortable than iron. Sorry it was incomplete before, but there was a fire drill at. my school.
Eh, no thanks.
Iron Armour is already easy to come by and having something even less durable than Leather is almost pointless, it seems.
Not to mention the flammability of wood....
Fire would not install kill, but it would not go out until either the armor was burned off, or jumped in water. It would be more protective than leather, but not last as long and have crappy enchantments. To you bloody phoenix, iron is non renewable and you can eventually run out. You will never run out of wood.
Budder is harder to obtain and it has good ernchantments. Budder lasts a long time though, and is protective. Wood's thing would be projectile protection. Both are renewable though.

Gold is barely better than leather when it comes to protection and durability. It's essentially a useless set of armor.
I don't see much of a point in having another useless set of armor like Wooden Armor. Iron and Diamond would still be better, the former being extremely easy to find. On top of that, you can already enchant things with projectile protection so there would be no point in having an armor with it.
You would not have to us precious resources for wood armor. I find gold pretty protective, and it is renewable. If you are gonna use the, literally, five iron that generate in your super flat world to make armor, you are out of your mind.
I definitely like my own idea of wooden shields and shield item in general.
I've always wanted composite armour, mainly for character purposes, but there is times I wish I could take that bit of leather and bit of spare iron and make a stylish and protective outfit of it.
The same could be done with wood, it isn't much of an armour but for extra projectile protection as well as leather for durability it could be some sensible armour.

Super Flat was never designed with Survival in mind so playing it in Survival has always seemed pointless to me. So adding wood armor to compensate for something that was never meant to be played in survival just seems like a moot point.
Someone should really start a thread about more weapons and shields, they are pretty famous in the forums now...
I would not like wood armor to be added BUT I do want some sort of armor that is more resistant than leather but weaker than iron because if you compare the differences from leather to iron its A LOT, even more than the differences from iron to DIAMOND. For me a whole set of diamonds without the helmet is the same as a complete set or iron but the diamond set lasts about 4x times longer or something like that. I would really like to see some sort of a middle class armor.

There s already tow between iron and leather.
Called chain and gold. They're hard to get though.
I would suggest a leather and iron composite armour featuring leather straps holding on pieces of iron being not as full as the iron it would be less protective.
Edit: check out the THERE SHALL BE WAR thread, Radioactive and I like to chat about muskets, wooden clubs, armour and anything in between.

Thanks for letting me know about the THERE SHALL BE WAR thread. Gold I dont take it as a middle class since it breaks almost instantly and chain armor is impossible to obtain in survival as far as I know. Wood armor would be a good example but since there is a lot of wood out there it would have to be weaker than leather which makes no sense. Maybe if they add a new ore called copper we could make some copper armor or maybe we can make some new steel armor but really I think that there need to be a middle class armor.

Alot of people misunderstand how tough leather is.
It might not stop an arrow but neither would iron plate armour.
There is a reason motorbikes use it other than it looking badass it is a great impact absorber.
Get scratched across a tar seal road with the gravelly bits sticking out at 100 kmh and Marvell at the few bruises you get and how the leather will stand up to absolutely every tearing bit of rock.
I honestly think that as an armour the only pro of wood is stopping arrows which is why it was used for shields when aproaching archers.
Maybe I overstate it but it is still used as armour for a very good reason, wood is much more available and you could probably make it with only general knowledge.
Leather on the other hand requires slaughtering, butchering, curing, tanning and then crafting.
Wood requires chopping, cutting, crafting.
Wood was much easier but still not used for good reason.

With wood, if you hit it, your sword will get stuck in it. Arrows get stuck in it. There was a boat made of wood that rejected CANNONBALLS. If it can reject cannonballs, it will resist arrows. That is hard oak.

I watched a video comparing the katana and longsword.
The longsword didn't even go through the leather, instead crushing the persons ribs hardened leather would be different.
As for swords getting stuck in wooden armour.
If you've ever split wood you know that sometimes your axes gets stuck in the wood chopping block.
But it can be removed very easily with the lightest of tugs.
This may actually provide an advantage in combat as you basically have a lever to throw him away with.
As for cannonball rejecting ships the only time I heard of anybody rejecting cannonballs was the Maori when the Europeons showed up in NZ.
They did so with woven flax, the flax had very strong fibres you could think of it as a seatbelt like material.

Just like gold swords are just as weak as wood
Show me a non-Superflat world without Iron and I'll side with you.
