I think 4JStudios needs to enable you to put redstone on glow stone again so we can make some contraptions that need a transparent block to actually work.
Its coming, we just have to be a little more patient. I have been waiting for this for a while now too, and we can take comfort in the fact that it should be a guarenteed feature. It was in PC 1.2.3 so we should be getting it soon.
