DLC? last i checked all features in the 360 edition are added in without needing to buy DLC.
You can't expect them to keep the free update train moving forever. Mirosoft has 4j by the short hairs, and they've already been freakishly lenient up to this point. It won't be long before the monster we call M$ hungers for more delicious greenbacks.
Back on-topic: I don't really see the point to this item. It just seems like an overcomplicated and less useful version of zones. I would much prefer some sort of add-on that implements customizable zones, in which you can disable anything you could with host options, but within specific areas. This puts the kibosh on griefing, and they could also add extra options such as "Aggressive Mobs" which could be disabled to deter those pesky creepers. It could even be expanded to create zones where creative mode is enabled and whatnot. This concept could be expanded upon quite a bit, but this gives one a basic idea of what I'm talking about.

1. You should be posting this on your OWN Topic instead of someone elses, it can be considered advertising your idea.
2.this way is copletely legit, host options are for cheaters who cant play normally, and for herobrine trollers. (also noobs who dont know how to do anything)
only point of electric fences (RL) is to stop animals breaking through a cheap wire fence, as mobs cant break fences i really dont see the point in these....
imagine you have something that requires a fence (farm, animel pen, ect.) attached to you house. Now imagine if there are tons of mobs hugging against the fence to try to get to you. if you dont see them, a creeper could blow it up and let mobs into your farm. I rest my case.

Advertising my idea? It was thought of by somebody else years ago and is currently being used by a very large portion of PC servers. Host options are legit... that's probably why they allow them in survival mode. They're for people who want to defend themselves against griefers. But since that is obviously cheating, is your suggested thingamajig not a cheat? You have a very skewed view on host options; you must not have played this game before the 1.8.2 update.
The point still stands that this is merely a way to set up a very specific type of zone, and an ugly way at that. I would personally rather have areas bordered by invisible walls that I could customize to my liking. It makes more sense than a no-player no-mob zone (which has to manually be turned off to allow access) with a perimeter of floating and underground fences, bouncing electricity off of each other. Not to mention, that would just look completely stupid.

It would just be a lot easier to have zones but do you think that we will ever get anything like that? Because I'm not sure if we will. But I can't argue any idea over protected zones, they're simply as good as you can get. If we ever do it is what I look forward to the most.

did you seriously just say that host privaleges are legit? If it was legit then worlds wouldnt have achievements and leaderboards disabled. Plus, is flying around whilst invisible and with infinite hunger legit? I definitely dont think so. Also, I actually got the 360 edition about 3 weeks after it came out. Now, i sugest that if you want to share your idea (because i admit it would be good on adventure maps and , if we ever get dedicated servers) you should start your own topic
a creeper is more likely to blow up as a result of being electrocuted...
i re rest your case lol
creepers only blow up if they are damaged by you and if your close enough for example a skeleton can shoot a creeper and the creeper wont blow up if they were close. only if it was you. i could be wrong though

Conforming to the law or to rules: "his claims to legitimate authority".
Since Minecraft has no rules, the only guidelines to follow are the Xbox 360 Terms of Use and Xbox LIVE CoC. In regards to a specific world in Minecraft, the owner/host make the rules. Since the host is obviously the only one who can use host privileges, it's going to be pretty rarely that they're used illegitimately. Hosting options are legit, including privileges, and so is creative mode. Anyway, this entire argument has nothing to do with the topic at hand. What in the world does a flying invisible person have to do with griefer protection? You picked out a very small part of the host options to attack the whole concept.
I'm not trying to suggest the idea of zones, I'm just saying it covers this, and in a better way. If somebody suggested multi-colored instant redstone wire, I would tell them about RedPower. It contains what they want, plus a lot more to make it superior to the original idea. Developing and improving an idea isn't a bad thing. If everyone stuck with and defended their original ideas, the wheel would still be made out of wood.
This is a great idea, and a huge step towards curbing griefing. Players can't just break your fence or they'll get shocked. You'd just have to hide the on/off lever somewhere good.
How about just on the other side but visible? People hate it when what they want most is just out of there reach.

I like the idea of zones.
I suggested something similar a while ago.
We should start a special topic seeing as you say it can be expanded a lot.

I just meant it could be expanded from the basics I described. As for the zone plug-ins that actually exist, and are in use today, they've got just about everything covered. Originally, I just didn't want to go through the trouble of starting a new topic on it, but it might not be a bad idea. If nothing else, it would at least be a nice change from the somewhat ridiculous requests in this section. It's something that just about everyone (that plays online anyway) would find very useful, not just some overly-specific gimmick that only a handful of players would want. (This wasn't aimed directly at you, OP. I'm sure you did think this idea would be useful. And it would be, but you overlooked some pre-existing software that already did the job.) Give me some time to get my capture card back in working order. I would really like to take some screenshots of how zones can be utilized in TotalMiner: Forge. That will definitely help push the point across that zones would be super effective on the console version.

I once saw a Mojang post about creative mode: Theres a big difference between creating in creative mode and surviving in survival mode. What im trying to say is, I would like the idea of zones in creative because I really hate griefers as much as the next guy, but in survival, it takes the point out of defending your house. Sure' creepers exploding your house is annoying, but its also a key part of the game. Do you see what im saying?
creepers can blow up without the need for player intervention
oh i see. when i see creepers i usually turn around and hide so im not sure how creepers work. but when im in a cave i kinda have to fight as there is no where to run. caves are where i get all my gun powder

But... the electric fence would be keeping the creepers from blowing up your house... I don't see your point. Being a "physical" implement does not make it more "legit" in survivalist terms. Your idea and zones both take the point out of defending your home. I don't understand how you're not seeing the similarities here. And you're not thinking outside the box. Not all Minecraft worlds are just survival maps with players everywhere doing anything they want. Think about RPG servers, where everything is organized, and there are specific areas for activities. Or the adventure maps, where the creator obviously wouldn't want players to break blocks, but there might be a section that requires the player to place/break a block. These are still survival-based worlds, and some of them are even built in survival mode.

ok you have a good point there... lets just agree to disagree? I dont want to start a flame-war here I honestly think zones are a good idea for adventure maps
Ok when I first read this post I thought, this is one of the best ideas I've seen so far. Then I got to thinking, people could just go right over or right under the fence. This would make it nice for keeping out mobs but not much hated griefers. And on the Xbox without having any ways to protect land, this would be pretty much useless. But then I thought of a soloution. It uses your idea of having the current go down 10 blocks. This is how I think it could work. You would place your first fence around your property as normal. Then, you dig down 10 (or however many) blocks and you place a second fence directly below the first one. When both are powered and are within the maximum range of each other, lines of electricity would form between the two. It woudn't be solid obviously and if you touch it it is the same as touching the fence. And you could continue doing this all the wat down to bedrock and up to the clouds. That way even if somebody did make a tower over the fence, they ould most likely die from fall damage.
Hope this helps.
Awesome idea!!!!!!!!! I dont like the current just jumping automatically tho. maybe Iron poles between the fences at corners and ends to transmit current? unless you made a send and recieve signal fence or something..
Maybe a diffrent name? Electricity isnt in minecraft, Besides that i Support
ok they could be called redstone fences because redstone is pretty much Minecraft Electricity. It powers pistons, doors, fence gates, TNT, powered rails, dispencers, and in the pc version, redstone lamps, so its basically electricity.

A creeper doesnt explode from random damage. Albeit, if it was still alive after you got to close to it would explode.
