Villagers often do nothing.
Villages remain unchanged and players exploit them for quick resources.
I propose a change that would give villages a sense of belonging, community and economy.
This would be things like AI hunters that go out to hunt and collect meat supplies for the village.
AI miners who would travel into special village mines and slowly collect resources.
AI farmers who may manage the often un harvested wheat crops in villages and maybe even livestock.
They trading system would still be in place and It would make villages a much livelier place as opposed to the wondering ghosts we see today.
As villages age they may also begin to fortify themselfs.
They would assign armed guards along with iron golems.
Build fort walls, archer towers and motes.

I put my shirt on one leg at a time, just like everybody else.
Don't really like the AI hunters and miners... They'd needlessly steal and compete for resources, as well as hard to program. I can just imagine a "glitch" where AI hunters steal from your pens, AI miners steal from your house's walls, and those guards would defend those miners+hunters.
However, if you're limiting them to within borders only... eh... Maaaybe xD I'm just reluctant how much of an impact this could have, or how worth it is is. They're useful as quick resources, but this would probably take that out due to "stealing" resources from the village. Additionally, not sure how much of an impact a slightly livelier community would be =/

Currently playing the Xbox 360 version, this amazing seed
I need ta write something better...
Maybe a button when creating a world saying "Village economy" On/Off
Genius!
I think that there should definately be more options.
Especially with any new ideas that they're adding.
Some people just aren't too open to their minecraft being changed at all, I can respect that they enjoy what they have currently, but I would enjoy a couple inventive flares from the Xbox minecraft devs.
I would just prefer they follow the PC updates for what Villagers become. Trading, Iron Golems to protect them, and Zombie Hordes that attack them at random times.

Or you could have something new.
That will give the Xbox version flare.
Why make a carbon copy of PC?
Even for me (I haven't even played it) I would prefer new features.
They'd still be attacked by zombies and have iron golems if 4J decide to add them.

I want the Xbox 360 Edition to be a carbon copy of the PC version up to 1.2.3/5 just like they originally planned. Meaning the same professions, trading, golems, etc.
After that, 4J can do whatever they want though I doubt that is something they'd change.

I think we're past the 1.2.3 update, which brought us Breeding, Enchanting, and I believe brewing but I'm not sure about that one.
Sorry, but Minecraft Xbox-360 Edition needs to stand on it's own, and not be a carbon copy of the PC version. We're already seeing signs of that happening. The Ender Dragon's Acid breathing ability is a clear example of this.
This village economy idea sounds really cool, and would be one more way of differentiating the PC version from the 360 version.

Exactly.
But Mustache guy still has a bit if a point.
We wouldn't want to miss out on jungles.
Then add many new ideas.
If most of the next update is going to be jungle related, why not give us some of these new features to keep the other parts of minecraft fresh?

You're right he does, and I should have said that in my last post. I'd love to have Jungle Biomes in the next update.

Title Update 9 is equivalent to the PC versions 1.1 actually. So we have not yet reached 1.2.3. Breeding, Enchanting, and Brewing all came long before 1.2.3 on the PC.
I never said that the Xbox 360 Edition shouldn't be it's own game and stop copying the PC. I said I want it to be a copy up to 1.2.3. That means we'll get the complete Villagers that have professions, trading, iron golems, and probably the zombie siege. There are just parts of the idea I don't like. Like NPCs going out and getting resources.
I personally wouldn't want NPCs taking any of my worlds resources. Nor do I see any real point to the villages being fortified. It would defeat the purpose of the zombie siege Mojang added.
I would really like to see an economy within the villagers but I would hate to see them expand themselves because they would take more and more terrain, more and more resources.
I think that the only thing that should be implemented for villagers is that they have economy.

We're past the 1.2.3 update, also known as TU7. Don't believe me? Go over to Youtube and type in the title Minecraft (Xbox 360) 1.2.3 Update into the search bar. A guy with the screen name TazMTV did a few videos on it.
You seem to forget the purpose of fortifications is to prevent seiges. Mojang isn't responsible for adding new things, to MCXB360E, 4J Studios is. The only way we'd get Zombie seiges is if 4J decided to add them.
I think the word siege would make more sense if it forced villagers to stay inside a fortified position rather than zombies coming in and killing everything.
The point of sieges is to stop the flow of supplies into a place by surrounding it, which means going out to hunt would cause villagers to starve instead.
Which would also mean the events of a zombie siege would go on for days while they starve instead of them all being zombies next time you show up.

villages are really pointless besides you can loot them once, they are just a few empty houses with villagers inside..
