Anyone think the rapid pulser should just be an item rather than an overcomplicated space and time consuming design? It would really be useful now with spawn eggs and you could shoot out the whole contents of a dispenser with just one flick of a switch/button/pressure plate. What do you think?
I completely agree with this. A block where if a stable power source is going in the back, it will send a rapid pulse out onto the redstone in front of it.... good idea!
Since the 360 version HAS been simplifying things AND redstone seems to be less efficient in the 360 version [not even considering comparators, the clocks in the 360 are even less steady, slower, and less effective], such a device would be awesome.
I could see the potential issue of making things too "easy" but wouldn't that be a better thing? Not only would this increase the efficiency of redstone but would also introduce more people to the wonders of redstone.

Yes it would be a better thing. You can't have too easy when it comes to the building aspect of the game. It should be about creativity and innovation rather than which build is the hardest.
Also, my rapid pulsers seem to often die out for no apparent reason.
My rapid pulsar has been working flawlessly for months with no burn out.. But yeah I'm down with anything that has to do with simplifying Redstone for the masses.

for the block design it should be a redstone tesla coil and 2 should be required for it to work. maybe bolts of lighting could exchange between the 2 signifying which side is curently being powered
