So inspired by Skyrim's Spriggan and the new skin packs "Tree Man" I thought of a New mob for Minecraft that i think could be extremely exciting, fitting, and beneficial.
I'm thinking the name should be 'Arbor' (Latin for tree), Tree Golem or Arbor Golem
The creature itself is somewhat of an animated tree (like the Spriggan)
It's goal is to protect the forest.
When a player is chopping down a tree and an Arbor is close enough it will attack the player. ONLY when a player either attacks it or cuts a tree down will it attack
It drops either oak wood blocks or a special rare mossy wood
Attacks by running at the player and tackling them creating a knock back effect
stops attacking when either it's dead or player is out of the forest
50 Health
Attack damages according to difficulty settings: Easy 1.5 hearts, Normal 3 hearts, Hard 4.5 hearts.
walks at a normal pace when peaceful, but sprints at player speed when attacking
Spawns maybe 4 per forest biome
Tree Golems only appear from either spawning or a sapling being hit by lightning
Tree Golems could be tamed only when creating one in the same fasion as the iron Golem only with Mossy wood rather than Iron Blocks and will defend their summoner
Fire is the Tree Golems Weakness and does 5 hearts Per. second
Cannot enter Nether or End
I think this would be a great addition to Minecraft because it would add a ton of excitement to getting wood and would be a good way to get mossy wood into the game, could also be fun just hunting them

I kind of like this idea, would make gathering wood very difficult at first.
That's why there would only be 4 or so per forest Biome. And the distance that they would attack you from would be the normal distance that any other mob would. so if you're close to them then yeah it would be hard but forests are big so you could just cut from further away
Technically they're not full-blown invisible since you can see some effects emnating from them, but you have a point.
maybe they could hide in the tree like a silverfish does to stone bricks, cobble, and stone, exept very faintly visible in the tree.some would be wandering and some would be inside trees, like spriggans in skyrim. Anyway, its an awesome idea and i hope it gets implemented!

AND, they could be coded to drop ANY sapling. This is a potential fix for the jungle sapling issue when the new biome is added. This also fixes issues for worlds that don't have a certain type of tree as well.

lol it took awhile but I've changed the damage ratings. what do you think?
