I doubt I'm the only one to notice our puny sky limit. Have you ever wanted to build a big castle on a mountain or a floating city? It can't be done unless you want a small half castle or a floating city of shacks. (goodbye sky scrapers.)
I can't finish some of my builds with the current sky height. After all whats the point of making a float city if you can just place a few blocks under you to reach it.

Air blocks might not, but it'll be taxing to the system once you start filling that with regular blocks instead of just air. Plus, we're probably at the very limits of the Xbox's RAM as is. Unless the ANVIL format can help optimize the way chunks are saved/loaded, we will most likely never see the height increase.

Hmm didn't think of that...
The world size is relatively squared though.
It's not like anything else and we will experience explosive consoles.
The most you would expect is slightly more lag If your the guy that builds huge skyscrapers every 20 metres.

Pretty sure it would be incredible lag. And just think of how bad people complain of lag now, and after every new update. I've never heard of a console exploding, but adding too much building space would make the game unplayable.
I know the Xbox can't take the height limit double that PC has. It's just common sense. Because if they could double the height limit at where the game is now, then why wouldn't they have increased the map size? I think that if they had the extra RAM, they'd put it towards more map space, since that's what most people complain about.

Maybe people just need to make big holes to put there cities in.
Nevermind.
I too would prefer a bigger map.
Maybe in servers.

It sucks, but it's the what we were given. I'm just hoping Minecraft comes to the next Xbox and can have larger worlds/height limit.
Personally, I doubt we're ever going to get servers, but who knows...

Yeah but it's not like Minecraft is a high graphics game... it shouldn't be hard to just make something taller.

The graphics don't really have anything to do with it though. It has to do with the way the game is coded to use memory and store data. As of right now, the game is using basically every bit of memory we have on our outdated system. That means that: unless 4J can make it store memory (while playing) better, then we won't see a height increase.
As I said earlier in the thread, if 4J had the extra space to make the height taller, why wouldn't they instead use it to shut people up about map size and increase that?

Honestly, I could do without servers. I only ever play with two other people at once, and the world size is more than enough for me.
But imagine a world where hundreds walked the streets of a city.
Worked in the mines.
Grew food from farms and went to trade it with you.
Ore would be currency and it would be fun to explore and find lonesum old men living alone far from society.
To stop griefing special admin selected trait zones to set an area as a players property.
This would disallow placing blocks, breaking and opening chests. Aswell as not hitting entity's.

Again, I only ever play with two people. I dislike the idea of playing a game like Minecraft with dozens of others.
I'll admit, it would be an occasional nice treat to play something like Hunger Games with bunches of others and no lag, but I would rarely do it anyways.
In your post, I would be that hermit living far from society.
I'm not saying servers would be particularly bad for our version, just that I can do without them.

I live where your not.
So why not? 4J?
I think bomb-launching myself onto a 200-some high roof would be fun...
Stay fluffy~
