Tip: If you really like this idea but can't find faults, post [contributingly on topic] anyways! This will keep this suggestion alive and raise more attention to make it possible
Basically, all of us have limitations due to the Xbox's hardware, such as:
Major issues?
1) Smaller maps
2) Much less people per map
3) Can't implement mods
4) Smaller communities, hard to bring togehter
5) Difficult map sharng
This idea I have MAY just fix all of these issues [maybe except mods]. My idea is that PC's can be used as hosts FOR the 360. This means that there would have to be special servers made to be compatible for the 360, hosted on a PC, and able to enter the IP into the 360. That ALSO means 4J would have to take additional time to create an option to access the servers from the 360 version [as well as work out the hosting/data transfer bugs and such] alongside making the PC software fully working and available to the community.
The benefits?
1) Can use similar map sizes and such [PC has all the RAM to actually process the map, placement, saving/loading chunks, etc]
2) Can possibly have at least similar versions to the PC [if the 360 acts in part a true client, this is really iffy since I don't know the particulars]
3) If this moves forward enough [and the 360 becomes a strong, compatible client], server mods
4) Other mods... Like #2, not sure exactly how the client-host system truly works
5) Easier to share maps and such
6) Many benefits that the PC version has
7) Use your imagination? =D
The problem with mods on servers is that the client may have to have the mods. I don't know how much [or how legally] PC can transfer to the 360. Maybe it can transfer special mods like the village/faction ones, area protection, legit stores, MCEdit, etc.
Actually, MCEdit is more of a tool, right? Even tools like those should be able to be used!
Now it's your turn to shoot me down, or find the faults. Will this harm Microsoft's rules? Will this somehow stress the 360 too much [which is the opposite of this plan]? Is making the 360 version even slightly client-based lead the game down the wrong way and not worth the benefits?
[watch me forget to put in some big or even important detail xD ]
Edit: Made a few quick corrections and small additions [4/8/13]
Thanks for the support! Added a few quick edits, tags, and a few small corrections/additions.
By the way, if I should add a poll, what should I add to the poll?
And can you think of any faults? Any additional benefits? The difficulty of implementing this? Need to keep this thing alive and kicking without staling
